Hello, I'm after some advice on a swap I did recently but I'll ask my question first... if I pull the entire car loom out of my mk2 car, will I be able to put a full mk1 car loom into it? Or is it not as simple as that?
I put a 1.8 MK1 engine into my 1.6 MK2 NB, I thought it would be a straight swap, obviously swapping engine loom, ECU etc but I've been told its actually not compatible unless you change a lot of things on the engine.
Thanks.

does your mk2 have airbags & abs?
chances are that most mk1's will not have these so integrating the wiring could be an issue?
iirc, the mk1 / mk2 engine wiring would differ as mk2 have seperate cam / crankshaft sensors (cam from drive pulley so easily swappable but needing a mk2 camcover to mount the sensor?)
personally I'd sort adapting the engine to run the cars loom etc.
Rich.
