Hi Folks,
Does anyone on here use an M2 Motorsport exhaust system
I need a system that will pass MSUK sound checks !!!
It looks like the only decent 2 1/2" system on the market, the only other option is going for a custom manifold back 2 1/2". I know 2 1/2" is considered to be too large for a MX but this is part of my ongoing madness. I am already at 169 Bhp on stock valve size. ( Supertech oversize valves already in the parts bin along with boundrey oil pump new water pump which might be swapped for an electric one and a new main bearing and head stud set )
I am collecting parts for a custom forged build using an Mk2.5 VVT 1840 block, overbore to 85mm then using a billet crank to shorten the stroke to bring the capacity down to 1796cc. I am intending to make a high reving NA screamer.
This is why I am going for a 2 1/2" Exhaust system.

I need a system that will pass MSUK sound checks to me that doesn't mean anything off-the-shelf for a 5...... too manny db is the fashon custom manifold back 2 1/2" ^^ what I'd do, what I'm doing I'm using a TLE (Tony Law Exhausts) re-packable silencer - known to tame BDG & Millington Diamond engines so should be suitable on a 5...... Rich.

This should be awesome

Hi Folks,
Just an update. The Set up I have will pass the MSUK sound test. ( thats without the end baffle which tames it for road use ) Its a Simpson Racing Manifold into a Magnaflow 200 cell cat, the system is from M2 Motorsports with a silenced mid pipe. The M2 back box came with a baffle / restrictor to reduce the outlet diameter, I set too with the cordless drill and made a load of holes in the end plate to allow more flow. The exhaust set up has caused the car to run leaner meaning a bit of retuning. When I first installed it all the instant result was an increase in tickover by a couple of hundred revs. I am also finding the engine is response much improved over 5000 Rpm.
Speaking to another owner that has over 200 HP on tap with ITBs he found more power with a system larger than a 2 1/2" system. He has 9000 Rpm available on ITBs using a stock crank.

I am also finding the engine is response much improved over 5000 Rpm. that'll be helped by the manifold as to pipework diameter, it's not uncommon to see 2 1/2" and even 3" used for 2L n/a engines... Rich.
