In various moves i have managed to los ehte wiper mechanism for my car. I have the motor, but i mean the arms under the cowl.
The LHD and RHD seem to be opposite, but the parts look like they are the same, but put together differently.
Has anybody looked at the differences, and tried to fit the wrong one to a car?

I *believe* the mount-centres are common lhd / rhd so that shouldn't be an issue the only difference I could think of would be the side-bias on the first crank (central wiper) that the link from the wipermotor connects to I have a spare rhd wipermec. in the shed somewhere if you want photo's or measurements etc. Rich.

I have just bought a LHD one just to see if i could do anythign with it. This is the picture: and then this is the one from mx5parts: I can't quite work out if they are the same thing or not. I think they might be... It woudl make sense for Mazda to try to use the same parts...

the arms have arrived, and i think they are reversible. I would test it all out... but i am missing the arm from the motor that connects to this lot. So i have had to buy another bloody motor as well. Will get that next week.

hmm. looking at it again, you are right.
and the socket that attaches to the arm on the motor is facing the wrong way. I can probably fix that bit with a hack saw and a welder... and then i could have some interesting wiper arm motion. Like some sort of kinetic art installation.
The good thing is that for the 'inspection' (and i use that term incredibly loosely) it only needs emissions testing. I think.

I now have one of each... And they are different. Just in case anybody finds this thread while looking for the answer, here is a picture of them both (with the LHD version turned around to try to make it like the rhd version. Which it doesn't...) Rhd version has red tape on it.

hummmmmmmmm... I've been looking into linkages as I'm fiddler (I've a rhd car / linkage but moved the wipermotor to driversside because ) interestingly theres a thread on Nuts where a rhd car is converted to lhd - the conversion is documented nicely on youtube and theres little pieces of info that would normally be overlooked - like wiperlinkages www.mx5nutz.com/threads/how-to-do-a-lhd-conversion.390295/post-4543967takes you to the 'final' installment (so far?) and if you watch the vid.... @ ~21.00 mins theres some thoughts on wipers && linkage with comments about reversing the linkage direction (like I'm doing - but with progress ) maybe this will give you ideas? Rich.
