As per title. Changing rear pads, and i can't back the piston out enough. I have actually chewed up the adjuster screw splines, so need to get a new one.
Questions: How far back does the piston go with the adjuster screw? If the adjuster screw is removed, should I be able to push the piston back in manually?
As an aside, you should all feel lucky that you have places like autolink to get parts quickly and inexpensively. I am really missing them... $18 per screw here, plus postage plus a few days to get it.

Should wind it all the way back, enough to get new pads over new discs, I don't think they push in because of the adjuster mechanism. One of mine was fine, the other wouldn't wind back far enough, I think at that point you rebuild or renew the calliper HEREI got a refurbed unit from Autolink (sorry).

They are basically brand new. A few years old now… but have done about 20 miles!
The pistons look in really good shape
I think I’m going to remove the (thick?) later of paint off the back of the pads, and see if I can sneak it on. I think I bugged the adjuster screw by pulling them out a bit as they turn. I hope anyway… Will see what the other side fits as well.
