Had a brilliant weekend away at Gurston Down for the hillclimb, part of the Sevenoaks Speed League and also Classic Marques. Because it was an invitational class, they put all Sevenoaks members in the same class, so there was my smoky NA, a 1300 MG Midget, 1600 Lotus Cortina, 1600 Caterham, 5L supercharged Jag F-Type and howardb66 in his turbo NB 1.8, having joined the club very recently. On seeing the entry list I thought the best I'd be able to do was 4th in class, and in the end it turns out 5th was as good as I could get. I did the Saturday on Rainsport 5s, and Sunday on R888Rs, but the difference was pretty minimal (improved by 0.4s out of the 44s total). Howard won the class convincingly, and set a new class record on both days, which went down well with the old boys!

Hello, I have been a bit quiet on here this year. The last event in the Bristol MX challenge is at Castle Combe on Saturday October 12th. There is the usual massive variety of cars and it is free to spectate.
I have had a great year smashing all my pbs but still not quick enough to beat Phil. I put wider wheels on so I could use Continental Premium Contact 6 on 16x8 rims. More grip so more confidence, plus I have got the car working how I want it. I took the upgraded ARB off the front and put the stock one back on. Much better for me.

I took the upgraded ARB off the front and put the stock one back on. Much better for me. Wasn't sure I could make it along this year but have just signed up so I'll be joining the orange army again and might well be on Bobbies Post 12 if I get my usual post.
Interesting about the ARB, I wonder if I should revert to stock as I'm not sure I'm capable of pushing the car hard enough to see any benefit - not that I've managed to enter any solos at all this year sadly.
Another problem is the clonking from the adjustable droplinks on the back which has put me off even taking the car out for the occasional blast, and apart from taking it for MOT it's hardly turned a wheel this year.
Prompted by your post I've just ordered another pair of ILmotorsport adjustable links to see if that at least quietens things down. Oh and a couple of those clutch pedal washers as one of them disintegrated coming back from Kemble last year and and hadn't got round to fixing the annoying click everytime I press the clutch pedal.
Hopefully catch up with you on the 12th -run well & here's hoping for some good weather!
