I have just swapped from auto to depowered rack, and want to try others to compare.
It is very heavy (as I was warned), and want to make sure it is comparable to others.
Anybody vaguely close to aylesbury with either that I can have a go in? Don't want to go mental, just a very quick go to compare...
Thanks

Only on the race cars sadly. They are super heavy. Worse if not depowered correctly.

I've depowered the rack properly on my hillclimb car....it's really heavy.

I found depowering (properly) to be heeeeeaaaaaaavvvvvyyyyy until aligned properly, and after that it is only really heavy when you're either parking and need a lot of lock, or at speed and attempting a tight(ish) corner. Even the missus likes depowered steering, which was not what I was hoping for... lol

My first one had a manual rack, not heavy at all. Even with wide ish 15" wheels on it was fine, and with a small wheel too. The manual rack on these cars is great, sold mine to a mate for his build.
Edit: Put it this way, it was Canoeing epic on the mountain passes in Europe.

Got a standard manual rack, as above it's not heavy at all, however I'd like to have a go with a depowered one to see the difference in ratio.

Being aligned at wim now, so will see what it is like after that. Felt better than I remembered on the way up to be honest. I think I was being a little wet...

A change in how something drives always takes a little adapting to!

got it back from WIM. Still heavier than it was (obviously...) but better.
Will see how it goes at snetterton on Wednesday, and then decide what to do.

fantastic on track. i first had the 'loopback' depowering before going the full FM route, not that much difference tbh. I've kept to 185 tyres too.
my first post in the alternative universe. do i now deregister nutzalmonds?

Bumping this post for some long term feedback
I need to get my alignment checked and perhaps adjusted (again - they are so sensitive to it!) but at the moment it is so heavy once weighted up mid-corner that I don't think I could catch the back if it started to oversteer

I've recently gone from standard manual rack to FM depowered, and I'm not sure I like it as much. It is, as expected, heavier, and the slight increase in ratio is quite nice, but after some track time at Combe last week, I'm not convinced it's any better on track. I have a day at Llandow coming up, and I'll review the situation after that regarding sticking the standard one back in. I think I miss the better definition of the standard item, and it seems to have a reluctance to turn in on the sharper bends with the depowered. I have reduced caster to about 4 degrees. Whatever, I still prefer it hugely over pas.

coincidentally, i am about to put powered back in (assuming it all still works)
At high speed the feel is great, but any slow corners just makes it way to heavy to catch anything. Feels like i have spent a day in the gym after a track session.

Thanks for the feedback, chaps I think that reflects what I'm experiencing - improved feel through the fingers but slower corners and sharper corners involve so much steering effort that if one had to rapidly rotate the steering wheel to catch a slide, it'd be basically impossible to do, even with reduced castor meaning less effort is needed! I may see if I can find a manual rack but I'm not sure if they're available new now.
