Have given that some thought Rich, but not convinced its resilient enough. Road surfaces around here are breaking up badly and there are lots of large gravel chunks that would probably make short work of it. Oh, to live in the permanent warm dry climate oft depicted on ClubRoadster 🤣

They say that 'Necessity is the mother of invention', and it's a maxim that holds true! Our dishwasher broke last week and before it got hauled away to the tip I salvaged a useful looking piece of galvanised steel from the base of it. It's now been 'fettled' with my Jigsaw, Dremel and a hammer to create the perfect bracket to recess the fog-light and provide a mounting point for the shielding to box it in. Just got to repeat for the other side now!

Bits of dishwasher on your mx5? Jesus, we get a bad enough rep from the whole hairdresser association. This is the last thing we need...

So having had the total distraction of starting a new job, little progress has been made.
The yesterday my wife and boys informed me that for Fathers Day Ithey had bought tickets for Japfest@Silverstone in September, inc. A display pass and public track time.
I have until then to: sort car mechanically, refurb interior, finish bodywork mods and get a full respray done.
Aaaaaaaaargh.
Need to sell my Alfa now, sharpish, to liquidate some funds.

Thanks to the generousity of Zed (who donated the looms), I now have working indicators and sidelights again! I would be able to complete the work required to put it in for MOT today were it not for the fact that it turns out the used windscreen wiper motor I purchased, whilst identified as from a Mk1 Eunos and designated as an NA10 is not a match for mine (Different mounting points/configuration). It seems not all NA10 motors are the same. 1990 cars appear to have had a different motor with the same number. Helpful. Top one is off my car, bottom ones was the purchased replacement. Doh!

1990 cars appear to have had a different motor with the same number. iirc, the swap was ~may '90 and the main difference is the direction the motor points although the mount-brackets differ. you should be able to swap the motors over on gearboxs and probably gearboxes onto mount-brackets whats wrong with the wipermotor? I've rebuilt the (early ~1989/90) motor I've fitted on my '91 car and it wasn't hard Rich.

I dismantled all the wiper connector arms and silicone greased the ball joints, dismantled and sanded the splined shafts in the assembly that the wipers bolt to, but to no avail. So motor is next. Just discovered the horn also doesn't work now and the car won't start . . . again. Well, it will start, but now it dies seconds after starting. I've started looking on ebay for cheap Porsche 924 in my tea breaks. . .

So motor is next. check voltage @ wiring plug / terminals & maybe resistance test the motor's earth? Just discovered the horn also doesn't work now and the car won't start . . . again. Well, it will start, but now it dies seconds after starting. no idea on horn (is there power @ horns??) but starting & dying could be fuel-pump trigger (standard 1.6 runs pump on cranking and has airflow-meter signal to continue pumping when engine is running) but if you've an aftermarket ecu..... I've started looking on ebay for cheap Porsche 924 in my tea breaks. . . do you hate yourself that much? Rich.

Hahaha. Thanks for the advice fella. Will get the multi-meter on the motor in the morning once I've finished topping the battery up. Re: 924 - I would still like to do this with one at some point 😉
