Hello
Ive recently bought a UK 1995 Mk1 MX5 1.8. I was on the look out for a cheap way back into having a weekend toy and this fitted the bill.
Ive had cars in the past, Ive had 3 200sxs and a 180sx and was a member of SXOC for a number of years. Life got in the way kids came along and I had to sell all my toys and grow up for a bit.
With a house bought and having a spare few pound I looked out for a cheap toy.
I never really got the MX5 thing thought i wouldnt be seen driving one nevermind owning one. I wanted another 200sx but with drift tax making even the sheds expensive (gone are the days of picking a fully moted s13 up for £300) and the insurance i was priced out.
Went to 3 sisters race track seen a few MX5s doing well against bigger more powerful cars so i did an insurance quote. £96!!! I couldnt beileve it!
Had a look round for a few and then unexpectly won this one on ebay for sniff under £700. 12 months mot, receipts for welding, 2 owners and 77,000 miles.
Pics from when I picked it up.
The paint is awful, has a few dents and surface rust in places but its been looked after reguarly serviced.
The drive home, the first roundabout, I instantly got the MX5 thing even in standard form with its little revvy engine and raspy exhaust i brought a smile to my face!
Plans are to do a few trackdays, TRY to only upgrade things if something breaks or wears out. I splashed out so much money on my past cars and dont really want to go down that road again.
Ive just picked up some MK2 15" wheels to give me more tyre choice. I also want to get a smaller steering wheel as this airbag MOMO one is huge!
Fitted the wheels gave it a clean and took a trip to Cadwell Park
Future plans are coilovers (if i ever figure out which ones i want) then get the alignment done, there is also a knocking noise from the rear suspension i need to investigate
Thanks for reading!
