If anyone in the Oxford or surrounding area has deletedone their Air con and it's in a state where it could be refitted, I could well be interested...
My car is a daily commuter first and a track car second - the weight loss means nothing when I am sat in the morning traffic!

Really? What, are the connections an old design or something?
I thought ac points had been standardised for years!?!?

ive got the compressor and evaporator in my loft you're welcome to it but I am a distance away no pipework and condenser though I think most people wreck the pipework taking it out anyway so that may be the issue! Dont think there is any reason not reinstate it easily. Just refit and fill with some of that aircon top-up gas on fleabay
I now await the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the fridge engineers!!

I thought ac points had been standardised for years!?!? i know someone who wanted it refilled and he tried companies across the uk and no one would do it as the type of gas they used to use is now illegal, and they would have to change somthing to be able to use a certain type of gas, i can only go on what he told me though

I actually did some research on this a couple of days ago. My air con works at the moment but I was interested to know whether I'd be able to refill it when it does inevitably stop working. Although the original gas is now illegal, there are some modern equivalents that can be used instead without having to make major adjustments to the system. There is a thread on the Almonds site about it: air con discussionThere are also a number of recommended companies listed there that can do a refill.
