Hi everyone!
So I just got back from a lengthy roadtrip around Belgium (will be making a thread with some pics when I sort them out).
My car performed faultlessly for the entire trip, which still surprises me for a 25 year old! Just have to figure out a bit of a leak issue in the boot. Dodgy rain rail I think.
Anyway, my question (as titled) is about lifter tick. How much is acceptable? Normally I have the usual 1 second of ticking when cold-starting, and then it goes quiet, but I've noticed more recently that when the engine is warm it sometimes ticks a bit on idle as well.
It seems to be most common after booting it for a bit (eg. on the motorway), then letting the engine idle for a bit (eg. at a traffic light or stopped in a parking lot). If I rev a little bit to increase the oil pressure, then ticking usually disappears again, but sometimes returns again a few minutes later.
It seems to be happening more since I changed the oil about a month ago, but I don't really understand why, since I replaced with the same oil that was in there before (10w40 semi-synth).
Should I be worried? Or is it just an inherent part of these engines?

Could be one is sticking a bit. Try a full flush and oil change. Or just ignore it which is what I do.
