Hi guys, I've been directed here by the very helpful 5 lovers on PH I recently bought the cleanest standard mk1 I could find in budget. It had never been welded as it was garaged. Now I am in the process of buying parts to update it. So far I have Enkei RPF1 wheels, Michelin PS3 tyres, Voodoo black alloy gear knob, wind breaker, plus it is booked into Scuzzle for a full Racing Beat intake, manifold, exhaust, high flow cats, Meister dampers, full service and refresh. Once I've got over this expensive month I'll be looking into a bit more tuning. I'd love the full signature NA tune on ITBs. Just need to save up some more! Right now you could help me... I'm urgently looking for some mint black leather seats. Cash waiting! Thanks all

keep it quiet or Haymarket will ban him.
Have you though about composite seats? big fat leather ones are good for touring bit they are, well, big. You'll sit more "in" the car rather than "on" it and it'll feel a lot better. Different styles work better for diffferent people. My Elise has Probax which are great for 6 hr journeys when that need arises. ie it's the correct position rather than padding that ensures comfort.

I used to have those seats in my Elise 111R. It was great for a while but got uncomfortable after half an hour. With this car I am going to drive its wheels off. So that means some long tours all over the place with my girl. So the seats have to be comfy enough to not annoy me. I will be driving along the south coast as soon as it is finished. We also want to go to Ireland and Scotland. Then lots of Europe next year.

You may have to wait a little while before I start a photo thread. At the moment it is still in its original condition looking a bit geeky. I just have a pile of parts in my spare room. Although the car is booked into Scuzzle for the 11th Aug. Then my body shop on the 22nd Aug. After that point I'll start a thread. I will show a before and after set of photos. This is the basic car BEFORE anything started to change... (I didn't pay close to that price)... www.mx5city.com/1997-mk1-18-uk-specAt the moment all I've done is to ditch the front plate, swap on clear indicators / reflectors, de-badge the rear, put a new knob on, removed the mud flap things.

Yes thats on my list! Any particular spec to get?
Once Scuzzle and the body shop have finished I'll see whats left in the kitty. I'd also like a mohair roof. Then I'll enjoy it for quite a while as I save up for ITBs etc.

I had a Torsen type 1 on my JDM NA8 last year which locked real well for a non clutch type dif, I have bought a Type 2 for my current mx5 (with the shorter 4.7final drive fitted) Which (if you believe all you read on these forums) Isn't has harsh as the type 1. Hey, aslong as it stops some inside wheel slip then i'm not bothered!

Yes thats on my list! Any particular spec to get? With eh 5 speed box you want a 4.3 TorSen diff from a late JDM 1.8 model like S-Special or VR Ltd etc. They crop up quite often but sell very quickly. £250 to £300 will be the price.
