Took the chassis bracing off to start the diff removal process. What a ballache. Exhaust I managed to get one bolt half undone. It will go eventually, but Christ it's hard work.

I guess you'll be using some copper grease when you re-assemble then!

Don't suppose it'll make any difference on the exhaust, but yes loads on the brace!

Never managed to get my car to the top of the axel stands before! This might well be a dumb question... ... but are those stands holding up the chassis rails? I'm sure I read that it's not a good idea and the jacking points on the sills should be used?? (Although I'm not quite sure how one would jack it up using the jacking points and then remove said jack to swap it for an axle stand... lol)

They are on the double walled bits of the rails. You'll see they are a bit thicker on both ends.

I also went for a drive today. Since getting my tracking tweaked and going two clicks harder on the rear dampers my steering has sharpened up a lot. It darts into corners more eagerly and the back end feels lighter, so it moves about more, meaning I have to steer into it sometimes. All good fun

All good fun Should be interesting come winter - frost, rain, diesel on damp roundabouts, dead leaves, snow, ice...

Tried removing diff. Didn't work so dropped the whole subframe. All to get one bloody ppf bolt off! Now to find the time to convert to manual!
