I've decided to do the solo rather than clay sprint so see you there, assuming I survive the events in between.

Looking forward to it, 8 mx5s in the Clubman plus Sandy and another in the NatB - should be good fun

I'm currently in Devon on holiday and don't get back until the night before, and I know my boot is full of tools and I'm completely unprepared for it!
I have changed my rear tyres from the Chinese gym mato to some Bridgestones, but my first miles will be to the event so no idea how they drive at all!

Absolutely brilliant day out right up until the point that my engine gave out!!!! Was really getting the hang of it as well - nailed one run! Engine is coming out anyway - will post pics of what happened (reckon a valve might have jammed )

sorry to hear that. this is what puts me off autosolo. all that ragging about in 1st gear and bouncing off the limiter is not what my engine wants :/

I wouldn't about. Mines done 10's of them, half of them since adding boost and it's fine. Martin Prescott has been winning Solos in a mK2 for 4 years and does about 15 a year in standard car. You'll only kill an engine if it already has an underlying problem. Ricky has been saying his has been sick for a while.

Yup it was bad luck, you were finding pace and had just put in a proper competitive time, as mentioned it's probably exposed an under lying issue, the limiter is there for protection, buzzing it shouldn't be an issue, mine lives on it Excellent solo, the calibre at this one was very high, the clubmans class you guys were in was packed with old hands, I came away with a class win in the NatB and ended up forth overall after a mishap on my last set of runs. Hopefully that venue lasts another year.

I had an absolute shocker of a day, with every run in race 1 and the first in race 2 being a wrong test. I'm blaming it on being on holiday up until the day before.
To make things even worse, I had to leave early and missed the 4th test.
And to make things even more worse, My car is now knocking from the front suspension and it now pulls to the left.
Still, test 3 was a lot of fun, a really nice route and plenty of opportunity to practice longer drifts.

Not just me then! yes test 3 was great - my first run just went almost perfect - I wanted to see if my 80.0 was beaten?

Yup, this is more to do with the condition of the car than the Autosolo per se, I have been thrashing it about knowing that the engine would be coming out for winter. It has been a little smokey and using oil for a couple of months now. i can't blame the car - to carry on abusing it when I knew it wasn't 100% shows what willing little buggers they are! There will probably now be a "Rick's 5 back from the dead" thread starting soon!!!
