I quite like it, I think some decent wheels, maybe some race-car livery on there, get rid of the rubbish spoiler, fit a turbo....job jobbed. Just cleaning it up and removing the dodgy vinyl has made a big difference. Exactly, it doesn't take much to see what it can be. It's an amazing base car with one of the best kits out there in my opinion, I just need to remove a few ugly bits and think about some more power as you say. Russell

If it’s really clean underneath & low mileage might be worth returning to std?

If it’s really clean underneath & low mileage might be worth returning to std? I don't know if they're really worth much yet, and I like the car as it is. I could probably make some money breaking the nice bits off it but I'd have to get the holes from the body kit and rear wing welded up which would pretty much mean a full respray, then I'd need to find the right seats and wheels as well as various other bits Russell

Managed to find some decent wheels ... a pair of 17 x 10 rears in Japan and a pair of 17 x 9 fronts in the UK. I need to sell some stuff & save up a bit for tyres, but hopefully that should sort out the looks ... then I'll have a set of wide 17" wheels fitted and standard Mk2 brakes ... might need to look at brake options to stop them looking so weedy. But then I'll have a tough looking car with a standard 1.8 engine ... this was meant to be a cheap car🤣

I've been concentrating on the Mk3 for a few weeks, it's the most useable car and the closest to road legal. Both of the front springs had snapped, so I sourced a set of lowering springs ... RSR Ti ones no less. While I was waiting for them to arrive, I was offered a good deal on a set of Meister CRD so I decided to grab them as it's destined to be a fast road / track day car anyway. They were easy enough to fit ... it's a refreshing change to the rusty Mk1s and 2s I usually work on. Having the car at a good height did seem to highlight the fit of the standard wheels ... at which point some Rota Torque came up for sale. Not my dream wheel by any stretch, but nice looking and fairly cheap due to needing tyres. I happened to have a set of brand new Michelin PS4s in the right size due to some experiments with tyre sizes on the Nopro, so on they went! I also bought a new exhaust as the Cobra Sport Race one that came with the car was crazy loud. When I removed it, I found cracks on every weld ... so that explains all the noise! I could have repaired it, but having looked at the 'quality' of this £525 British made masterpiece I decided to just bin it🤣 The replacement from Toyosports was super cheap (£140 posted) but unfortunately it didn't fit ... the tail pipes were offset about 6 inches to the right. They were very good about taking it straight back, and while moaning about the delay on Facebook, I got offered a Racing Beat exhaust. It fitted perfectly, and instantly is a lot quieter. That done, the car was ready for an MOT, which it duly passed with some praise from the MIT tester about how solid it was compared to the Mk3s he's seen before! So I'm ready for Japfest on Sunday ... which will also be my first decent drive in it, fingers crossed it's uneventful! Russell

Just finished fitting the front lip to the MX5 ... no pictures because it's dark and my phone battery was so low it wouldn't let me use the flash! Fingers crossed it's on securely and I haven't missed anything important like tightening the wheel nuts🤣
So my first proper drive will be at 5am tomorrow, down to Silverstone. Hoping to get there early so I can put a few stickers on!

I know the car, it didn't sell for that ... it got traded against a very high spec turbo Mk1 dripping goodies ... not sure on the value of either car or what the deal was, but it's a nice step up from mine anyway!
I still have the Pitcrew at the moment, MOT is next week but due to me joining the ranks of the unemployed a few cars will have to go over the next month or two. Most likely I'll compare the Pitcrew and Mk3 once it's on the road and sell the loser... then put the Mk2 on the road, compare it and then sell the loser... then put the track car on the road, compare it to whatever is left and sell the loser

Update time ... finished the Mk3, made it to Japfest at Silverstone which was a really good show. The car is stunning, very fast and capable but somehow not as involving as the Mk1s are to drive so as the Pitcrew is almost finished I had to make a decision and chose to sell the Mk3. If I needed a more road biased car, or just wanted the fastest MX5 I'd definitely stick with the Mk3 as it's undoubtedly faster than a Mk1 or Mk2 Anyway, after one last drive last night and a stunning sunset on the way home, it went today ... off to Barcelona to begin a new life as a track day car Few bits done on the Pitcrew ... mainly some new wheels, some really nicely specced Watanabe wheels Also got a load done on the BRG car ... temporary suspension removed and I've fitted the Xidas ... they look the part, hopefully they're worth it! Next step for that car is to clear out the interior of all the random junk that's been dumped there amd start laying out the wiring loom Russell

Sad to see the mighty MK3 depart, but understanding of the circumstances. The Wats look the business on the Pitcrew; really fits the rest of the look.
Those Maruha brake calipers are godly, I can't wait for more progress updates on your BRG.
