Oooops! Well the drive has been empty for far too long ... and I'd sold some stuff and was bored and this came up fairly cheap, and a friend of mine was delivering a car down that way anyway ... 93 1.8 import, a few nice bits including Mazdaspeed clocks and VR limited seats. Hopefully the underside isn't too bad, but the sills and arches look ok Russell

The scaffolding holding the 'Friyay!' billboard on the top must make it a bit of a handful in crosswinds though

The scaffolding holding the 'Friyay!' billboard on the top must make it a bit of a handful in crosswinds though To say nothing of the weight, plus it's a real hassle only being able to drive it one day in 7 ... I'm going to save up for a 'Saturyay!' one as well! Russell

Got a friend to do a pre MOT, glad I did ... blow on the exhaust fixed with some paste but I'll replace the back box in a week or so. Then he found the rear calipers were working on the handbrake but not on the brake pedal, bit weird but luckily I hadn't got around to fitting the rear brakes to my track car so they've been pressed into duty on the black one ... talking of which, I'm pretty certain it's an S Special type 2 ... Torsen, strut brace, Nardi steering wheel and stainless teardrops on the door cards
Anyway, I have a small list of things to do on the car but they can be done as a rolling restoration ... just need to sell a few spares and I can put some tax on it and start driving it!!

Slight change of focus due to a few parcels arriving ... Gearbox and flywheel adaptor And some ported runners and a load of service items. They all arrived at quicker than expected, which was perfect timing as the garage roof has now been replaced and the garage is no longer a paddling pool whenever it rains! So that meant a flurry of activity to dry everything out for the last time, which basically meant moving everything outside and then cleaning/ drying everything off before putting it back in a neater order. While there, I found this ... And this, currently masquerading as a bench So hopefully things can move forward a bit ... all I need to do is work out how to completely rebuild an engine! Russell

Bit of an update ... I've continued to collect parts towards the V6 swap but there's a way to go yet. Realistically I don't have the cash / time to do it quickly so I'll go back to plan a, and chuck a 1.8 back in for now. Managed to get hold of a Mk2.5 VS which has the 160bhp engine, so that will get slotted in along with the full loom and ecu ... it's got enough power that I shouldn't feel the need to rush into the V6 swap until I'm good and ready.
No timescale for completing it as work is really erratic so it will be done when it's done, but I'm hoping it might make it onto the road this year

Saying that, a set of ITBs and cans and some mild head work should get me some pretty decent numbers ... and in a stripped out Mk1 that would be a lot of fun! Russell

So where were we ... life seems to have taken over a bit recently ... holidays, clearing out the garage, hurt my back and then been made redundantā¹ The car hasn't moved forward at all, so obviously the answer is to buy more projects?
Answers on a postcard ... pics to follow if I don't have an attack of common senseš¤£
