All done with the Mk2.5 VS, so it's off to a new home ... been a lot of work in cold temperatures but it gets me one step closer to getting my track car back on the road. So now I'm left with two things ... a pile of wiring and other assorted parts that I somehow need to get into my Mk1 And a slightly tidier drive ... an interesting side effect is that all of the cars sat on my drive are fully working ... hopefully it will stay that way!! Unsurprisingly I've bought another car ... it's a Mk2, so I'm one step away from completing the set 🙄🤣

Ok, so this is what I've bought ... been sat under a tree for 5 years and doesn't start, so obviously I went to have a look after dark just to make sure there was absolutely no chance of me seeing what I was thinking of buying!! It's a white Mk2 RS import with a Nopro GT wide body kit and bonnet. Pretty rare even in Japan, but this one had obviously been 'added to' by a Halfords regular in the UK. First thing to do was to clean it up a bit, which went surprisingly easily to start with Which left me with this nice problem ... another Mk1 is out of shot, plus another Mk1 and an MGB are being worked on elsewhere ... time for one (the pitcrew) to go The car came on some pretty dreadful 17" wheels, attached with some really dodgy 30mm spacers. I got hold of a set of SSR SP1 to try No good really, even in a nice size and offset (15 x 8.5, et 4) they just don't fill the arches. The Nopro kit was designed for 17s ... so off I went to find some. Not easy to find as it turns out, ideally I wanted 4 x 100, 17 x 9 wheels with a negative offset. I managed to find a set of 17 x 8 Rial wheels in et 35 so I could at least get an idea of what would fit Better, and with some decent measurements I at least know what it will take to fill the arches. I've also been in contact with Nopro and confirmed what sizes they use for their track and show cars Russell

Some of the Nopro cars, to give an idea what they are meant to look like And here's a pair of wheels I have on the way from Japan ... it's really hard to find anything in the right sort of sizes, so I jumped on these and will keep an eye out for 2 more! There's a long way to go with this car but it's too nice a car to just break or leave to rot. The parts on this car are all top end, so it was obviously well loved in Japan ... just a shame some idiot in the UK stripped a bunch of nice bits off it and added the tacky graphics etc Russell

Interior wise, it's obviously been partially stripped. I'd say it had a Roll Bar before, and possibly a supercharger or turbo judging by the missing vents and holes where gauges used to be. The Bucket seats are (I think) Border Racing, but that's the only decent thing left. I've already sold the style bar and Windbreaker, and have a Hard Dog bar ready to go back in That's it pretty much up to date. So it's now clean and doesn't have the tacky graphics ... the Halfords accessories are gone, as are the LED glow lights etc ... the hardtop will be swapped for a white one and the roll bar will go in. I need to get it started (apparently a sensor problem which I have no reason to doubt given the accuracy of everything else the seller told me), and sort the sticky brakes ... that's about it. It's one of the cleanest cars I've ever seen underneath, and is a very low mileage car so I'm hopeful it will pass an MOT without any issues. Then I just need to work out what to do with it🤣 Russell

I quite like it, I think some decent wheels, maybe some race-car livery on there, get rid of the rubbish spoiler, fit a turbo....job jobbed. Just cleaning it up and removing the dodgy vinyl has made a big difference.

How’s the chassis underneath all that extra stuff? The door graphics are easily the most ‘special’ ones I’ve every seen.

Probably one of the best I've ever seen, straight and clean with no signs of rust on the chassis front or rear. Bit of rust on the Autoexe chassis braces but that's easily sorted. It also has Carbing strut braces front and rear, AutoExe braided brake pipes and plug leads, Maxim Works manifold, Mazdaspeed exhaust and probably more that I haven't found Plans are very fluid at the moment, but it's genuinely a stunning car Russell
