For the steering you need to do the following.
Remove both track rod ends Centre the steering so equal amounts at each side of rack Remove wheel and re centre it Put track rod ends back on and get the tracking aligned.
Essentially your steering wheel is fooling you as to where the rack is centred and the whole lot is probably half a turn one way or the other.

Saad, looking at those pics, you might want to get busy with the waxoil or something like that. There is a lot of waxoil/underseal on the car, I think the subframes are a little naked but the chassis legs and body are heavily covered.

Super easy. It's 4 bolts, 2 each side, and you'll save time if you pay attention in advance and notice the 2 bushes are different shapes. If pushed I reckon I could do it again in less than 30 mins. Noticeable difference since fitting? Got a link to them? cheers. Sorry for the late reply, I haven't driven the car since fitting them so I can't comment on there being a big difference, reading online the consensus seems to be a mite more vibration through the steering wheel. I bought them from Moss as MX5 Parts only had non power steering in stock: www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/mazda/mx5/steering-suspension/steering/superpro-polyurethane-steering-rack-mounts.html

If that's not possible without removing the track rod ends then I'll do that again, but as far as I can tell, the rack is currently centred in the middle of lock to lock.

What’s the news? Not much. Manifold and exhaust is now fitted properly thanks to Flowtech in Chadwell Heath. They lopped off the big boy exit, welded on a nice standard ish looking little straight pipe and patched up all the little blows and holes.
I’ve got new tie rods and track rod ends to go on.
The new exhaust is knocking somewhere but Josho is coming round to help me sort the steering rack so once that’s done I can get his help to rectify the exhaust, then it’s a coolant change, oil change, brake fluid change and then maybe, just maybe, I can start driving this thing again.

The rear scrape above the exhaust was kindly left by another Canoe while my wife and I were having dinner on our wedding anniversary. What a nice present.

Now the bab is a bit older I have a bit more free time, so with 5 Fest looming and the car looking like a bit of an eyesore I thought I’d put some decent effort in to get it sorted. The rear wing was also damaged in a hit and run, it was filthy from not being washed for nearly a year, and covered in spider webs so I think people were starting to think it was abandoned or just a prarrie canoe heap so not being so careful around it. It’s a bit of a sad story tbh considering I spent so much cash on it, it’s had next to no use since it was built by Skuzzle, and it’s predominantly my own fault. First thing I did was pick up the phone and spoke to Nick at Skuzzle, Marc had said at the RR day to bring it down so he could sort the steering rack for me, so Nick found a free day to fit me in before 5 Fest. That day is tomorrow! They will re-align the column with the rack, then centre the the clock spring and steering wheel hub so everything is straight again and I’ll also get them to fit the new tie rods and track rod ends. Then on Friday it goes into get a proper alignment done at WIM in Chesham. If everything goes smoothly on Wednesday I might have time to get to Southampton afterwards but if not I’ve got WIM booked for definite. The big thing is the MOT tonight! It will pass so I’m not worried about that. In the last couple of months I have achieved the below, the majority focused in the last week: Skidnation side mounts Curley Motorsport carbon fibre bucket seat Willans 6 point (only fitted as 4 point atm) harness An oil and filter change Finally wired in the halos on the 7” LED lights I discovered a coolant leak which was a loose hose clamp thankfully Fitted an aux cable to the stereo Fitted a Nardi I bought off a friend Removed the gearbox brace which was making a terrible racket banging on the FGK exhaust manifold Fitted new rear light gaskets (and tried to tint them all red and failed terribly so removed it again) Removed rear mudguards Fitted a fancy new gearknob made by a guy called Simon Basil (BuiltbyBasil) on Instagram - it’s made from recycled skateboards and has a big old weight inside it And the big one was fitting a new from wing from ECP last night, which was hard. Hanging body panels is not easy and it’s annoying when studs and nuts snap due to being seized but I think I did an OK job. It’ll come off after 5 Fest to be painted by a professional so they can fit it much better than I ever could. Once the MOT/Skuzzle/WIM is out of the way, I can relax and just think about fitting the ducktail that’s been sitting in the car for about 8 months, then there’s the DRE shift light that needs to go into this car, coolant change, brake fluid bleed, and I’d really like to a diff and gearbox fluid change but might be too much to fit in a week.

I like your knob. Fnar fnar. Just get the DRE shiftlight done, though, it's literally only a 20-30 minute job - even I managed it, and I am a mechanical failure!! It's one of the most useful things I've ever done to a car, I think - it means you don't have to watch the rev counter to know when to change up (I know you can listen to engine noise but if the power curve doesn't drop off at the top, it's easy to bang into the limiter lol)

Maybe I’ll do it after the MOT tonight, as a treat 😂
