Did the led lights pass the mot fine? They passed my particular, I don't know if they'll pass all MOTs....

A bit of a story to follow here. Saad had a pretty shocking day yesterday! Quite. Shocking is an understatement? Marc straightened my steering rack, he fitted new tie rods and track rod ends, he also discovered the bolt and thread holding the UJ to the rack was missing so drilled through and fitted an m8 bolt and nut. He also tidied up some loose wiring and the speedo cable which was hanging down a bit. I was really happy with the car, everything was coming up Millhouse. I was going to borrow the arch roller but ran out of time, but I did leave with a set of the Mocal/Skuzzle brake lines. Half way home on the M3 just taking the M25 slip road, when I hear a big rattle, I let off a bit and start slowing down and it gets louder, as I start getting slower I realise it’s something terrible and put the clutch in and then the engine dies and I realise it’s something really terrible. Manage to make it to the hard shoulder with a lot of smoke coming out of the bonnet. Looks like it drank all its coolant, I didn’t notice the temp going up until it got hot enough that something failed on the bottom end and it seized, so it’s all my fault. Yay. Took hours and hours to get home because the AA are useless and I don’t have Relay. Car is now at @moca2cv house and it’ll need a new engine. Broke down at 18:00, AA arrived to get me off the motorway at 20:30 where I’d been behind the crash barrier surrounded by stinging nettles, got dropped off at Cobham services and then had to wait Canoeing ages, and then I got to Bromley at 02:00 and home by 03:00. I slept all of yesterday and neglected my fatherly duties.

I honestly can't explain in words how heartbreaking this is, on the way back from the MOT, I had the roof down, just a t-shirt on, and a great ITB soundtrack. I hadn't had a drive like that in so long.
It was just the A13, it's basically a 50mph average speed limit motorway through the eastern bit of Greater London, but I couldn't stop smiling. I genuinely had to wipe a tear away when I got home because it was the happiest I'd been since my son was born, getting to drive the MX5 again properly.
Then, less than 24 hours later, this.

Knew some of the car's history but enjoyed reading through anyway until being reminded of the recent bottom end issue. No doubt you'll forge a plan and get this going again!
