Your Gurston Skills will translate to Wiscombe and your car will fly up the straight bits, should put in a cracking time.
You and Howard would be quite a match up, similar power boosted 5s.
What did you manage there in your 1.6 Howard as you were bloody quick in that.

Hi Sandy, haven't done Wiscombe in an MX5 but previously(2014) in my Griffith my best was a 46.42sec. My arch rival is going to be there so I recon I need to get below 50secs to get a good points score. However, it looks like it's going to be wet which will be bloody slippery under the trees & my first event in the car so will be a tough day.

So, a pretty good day. There was a pretty large delay mid morning due to an incident which resulted in only 1 timed run in the afternoon, so no pressure then!!
Nice to chat with Jon who we swapped hints & tips with.
The MX5 went really well, & after the handicap system had been worked out, my brother was 4th & I was 2nd in class (out of 21). Plus outright (48.59sec) I beat S2000, 911RS rep, 944Turbo, a tuned MR2, X1/9 Turbo etc.
Found out a quirk of the torsen diff is that you have to have both wheels pretty well loaded for it to work, so if 1 is off the ground it can't control the wheelspin......

Was good to see you guys. car goes really well. Your timed run exit of Sawbench was mega!

Shame to only get one timed, I thought your boost might have got you more on the straighter sections, particularly after Sawbench, not a bad run for your first outing in the car. I'm targeting the 46s there, this year, assuming I can get in, I'm hoping the tyres and diff change will get me that second. Gotta have goal right
I was talking to Dean Cubitt about the torsen on his, he had similar at Lys y Fran this weekend with rear lifting, not enough suspension movement in the rear on his car, he was considering dropping the rear ARB to see if he could keep traction but think he didn't want to try on a new hill.
He's actually got a clutch diff that would get around the whole problem but he didn't like it when it was fitted to his car.

That's a good idea, the guys in the TVR speed champs all take their rear ARBs off (mine never had one in the first place).

Just run a welded diff.
Kidding.
Sounds like you all had fun. I've really missed not getting out on a sprint yet this year.

I'm not expecting miracles just making an educated guess based on the fact that I have already done a 47.8 on 1As with my first visit last year, this years mods like the diff change has been helping on hills and the AD08s should work in the hairpin, I have been quicker at every venue this year compared to last so the updates are working, of course with everything track conditions on the day will play a part, as will whether I have brought my balls
I made over a second at Werrington, between this year and last, Wiscombe should be similar. I do have a habit of setting lofty goals and failing though.....only just.
FYI the entry is open for July, it is not on HSA site yet.
