I need a replacement front wing and was wondering about the fibreglass versions. IIRC they might need some 'fettling' to fit perfectly? but then I don't think my shell is straight in the first place... lol Crash / structural strength is my main worry - it's not like there's a lot of material to absorb impacts as it is!

Fitted some fiberglass front wings to the old MK1 I sed to drive. Took a lot of work to get them to look ok ish. edit WTF? Why is my pic upside down?

I need a replacement front wing and was wondering about the fibreglass versions. IIRC they might need some 'fettling' to fit perfectly? but then I don't think my shell is straight in the first place... Crash / structural strength is my main worry - it's not like there's a lot of material to absorb impacts as it is! if I wanted a shiney roadcar then I doubt aftermarket fiberglass panels would be bought, the quality depends on many factors but origonal mould making and laminators skill realy do make the difference and most grp needs serious 'fitting' as to impact absorbsion, grp is probably better than steel as it can act like a spring BUT thats subject to use etc. What’s the finish like? Fitted some fiberglass front wings to the old MK1 I sed to drive. Took a lot of work to get them to look ok ish. cannot realy comment on finish, paid for them then chucked in the back of my van ^^so didn't really look hope they fit one of my cars edit WTF? Why is my pic upside down? Tallent.............. a complete & utter lack of Rich.

I think our cars need to meet so they can compare (lack of) shininess lol

more stupidity... decided I needed a matching Stack oilpressure gauge so white-faced and stack branded as opposed to the Autometer fuel-pressure gauge with a black-face of all the (many) Stack gauges I've bought this is the only one @ full retail price bloody painfull I'll tell you... with loom & sensor. the full compliment, the fuel level gauge & revcounter were secondhand but the 'others' (oil pressure, oil temperature (x4, one as coolant temperature and another with 3 senders selectable for engine / gearbox / diff temps) speedometer, ammeter and time-clock were all bought as new in box but at reduced prices the revcounter, Stack's ST400 'recording' tachometer, can record 25 mins of abuse action for playback and has an adjustable shiftlight thats bright! lots of wiring to 'knit' into the cluster but only 3 actually connect to the car (+12v, earth & ignition pulse / trigger) trying to decide where to mount the momentary buttons to select the modes the brightest thing I've seen since a camera-flash! I weld so am used to brightness but this thing shiftlight causes retina damage! also ordered a pair of Supermiata's 2-piece lightwieght discs to run with the Wilwood Dynalite 'Boxmount' setup, gone lightwieght! supermiata.com/SPM-2-piece-Rotor-ND-Miata-MX5.aspxand still nothing assembled..... You could sell it as an “unfinished project” 😜 What do you think his name is? Russell? Will be awesome as a dash, though, albeit worth more than the car? lol

You could sell it as an “unfinished project” 😜 What do you think his name is? Russell? you've got a point there, I've only had this car ~4 years Will be awesome as a dash, though, albeit worth more than the car? lol definately more than the car's origonal purchase price three times more & thats so far! all I wanted was an oil temperature gauge Rich.

No, a lot less forgiving🤣 Almost any tap and they will be cracked or in pieces with the mount points sheared off ... lighter and they don't rust though, so still worth it. I'm on the lookout for a pair, but want 20mm wider or similar Russell

No, a lot less forgiving🤣 Almost any tap and they will be cracked or in pieces with the mount points sheared off ... I'm used to rallycars and if you hit the car hard enough to shear the panel from it's mount the wing usually is doomed & sometimes the car I'm going to be altering these as the mount-lip across the top is a little short and the rear mounts could be better as theres no partition so any water, mud or dust will flow through to the door area... not cracked to s hittnback... dont think they've been trimmed well but I'll assess this when (trying to) fit them 'trimmed' the 'small' top / innerwing 'lip' this is something for later as theres other projects in the que... okey, from the thread 'Nrg slimline boss with momo wheel' www.mx5nutz.com/threads/nrg-slimline-boss-with-momo-wheel.390182/#post-4542430well, it's here looks like a boss other end... side-on. like most things - I had to take it to bits the horn 'slip-ring' pops off with minor persuasion revealing the back recess, wonder what a 'real' (£110!) Nrg boss looks like I'll try it on a column to asess the splines later and try some bolts in the holes to test the threads, also tempted to drill the back somewhere unimportant to assess the materials hardness - is there anything else to test? so far it looks like it could be usable... anyway, I've been looking for a 'solid' boss to replace the oem Mazda / Momo item as they are collapsable in the event of an accident - not something I want on a competition car and also with a snap-fit / quick-release wheel setup... more to follow. Rich

followup, tried the Racetech QR on the non-Nrg hub / boss... side view shows 3 1/2" / 90mm overall length. so, the QR fits so Momo wheels should also, the countersunk Allen-bolts supplied with the non-Nrg hub tightened easily and didn't strip threads from the aluminium (OR bolts!) so thats one test passed out to check on a column later... Rich.
