Rich, you do know that one day you’re going to have to bolt all this stuff onto your car….. You seem to be assuming he has an actual car... I have to admit at this point, I'm not entirely convinced he does

something I've been looking into is a quick-release steeringwheel hub, many benefits of these include security & ease of access / egress, I had a cheap generic type in the workshop but was not unsure on it so bit the bullet & bought a known-quantity (& Quality?) hub. Racetech RTQNY Quick Release Coupling race.parts/Catalogue/Steering/Steering-Wheel-Quick-Release-Couplings/Racetech-Quick-Release-Couplings/Special-Racetech-Quick-Release-Couplingsthis type bolts onto a Momo/Sparco etc. boss (saves welding the splined 'slug' onto the column) and also acts as a spacer (handy), this type is also FIA & MSAUK approved for motorsport so a quality item next to find a solid steeringwheel boss to mount the Corsa column then bolt this Racetech qr onto as I'm unsure of the oem Mazda / momo colapsable boss with the extra length & in competition use Rich. I had a Brown & Geeson Quick release on my track car, was fantastic, was really solid and easy to fit/remove without any alignment issues... If I was to do it again I'd probably get a Works bell for weeb points, they are really quite nice. Also like the tiltable ones too

Rich, you do know that one day you’re going to have to bolt all this stuff onto your car….. You seem to be assuming he has an actual car... I have to admit at this point, I'm not entirely convinced he does well, Howard has seen it (OR a silver Enos that I said was mine ) as to assembly, that's going to be fun..... subject of fun....... picked up an Audi R8 oiltank (they're drysump) for cheap on ebay as an experimental part, seen photo's of these but never in the flesh. it's possibly getting modified to fit the silver heap more to follow. Rich.

Rich. the tank, similar design to that I've been slowly fabricating for the silver mix-n-match. Audi will have looked into many things when designing this so I'll look & learn hopefully... remote filler, dipstick & level-sender - bit posh innit? feed in from engine (bolter flange) and a pair of breather - stubs on top (one from engine & other to atmosphere / intake) feed out to engine (bolted flange) and drain plug - again a bit posh! wonder if theres a magnet on the drain plug & if so how much 'fur' is remaining from the previous engine??? more stockpiling / hoarding to follow Rich.

subject of stockpiling, bored in ebay earlier & spied an 8x15 (et-20) Revolution 5 spoke wheel for sensible money so it's on its way here sorta 100mm more poke than a standard Mx5 wheel always wondered what these would look like on a 5 just so happens that I know of a set of these in similar size so might go sniffin...... Rich.

been playing with the dash cluster again. so it turns out you can fit the facia on an A4 page so an A4 sized carbon-fiber plate now to measure / mark & cut the holes, guessing this will have a few attempts no other progress to report..... Rich.

the Revolution wheel has been delivered so I had to try it on the silver heap some rust starting on the lower arch also underseal pealing on the inner-tub - the inevitable is happening and I've embraced my future has welding in it... theres a little poke... maybe an 8" wide (et-20?) wheel has a little too much poke for a standard Mx5 wheelarch other developments, I'd ordered extended wheelstuds (Mk2Escort Rs2000) for the Mr2 rear driveflanges and they have arrived - must get around to machining them to suit the Mazda uprights. Rich.

Oh, and have you received the removable steering wheel thing yet? What's your thoughts on the quality? I need to get something to replace my solid spacer thing, and not having to faff with a disk lock would be nice so it would make sense to get a snap-on/off adaptor at the same time!

more fiddlin... again looking at the rear brakes, the Ginetta branded Hispec calipers look easy to adapt & making (OR buying???) mount-brackets shouldn't be an issue. Heath Robinson-esque caliper width spacers looks to be ~3mm offset for the adapters, not a hard job to make but Hispec sell 'blank' adapters for ~£25 each (+vat etc.) so probably cheaper to buy than make! subject of buy, Hispec sell spares so seal kits, pistons, spacers and pins are all available, looks like ~£100 (+ etc.) to recondition a pair of calipers BUT new calipers are £100 each so is it better to just buy new calipers? more thinking to follow.... also, talking to a mate & dash-clusters were the topic - he has a Mk2 Escort rallycar and has fitted a new revcounter so I sent him a photo of the Mazda's dash-cluster & gauges.... I MUST finish this someday. Rich.
