so.......  a box was opened...  had stuff.....  Owf uckinmuch? but, I knew the prices before ordering so no suprise there. now to consider the lower front wishbones  other busness... had a different delivery.  stuff.  a thing. more of this when it gets built into another thing  Rich. |

been working so not much to share, had an hour earlier on the Kazz Lsd build but not mush progress (pigshead has first coat of black hammerite smooth and Lsd unit stripped / bearings pressed on)  tries the Hispec 2 piston (ultralite2) caliper & Wilwood 'spot' handbrake caliper in an Enkei wheel to assess spoke clearance....  they fit.  footbrake caliper, need to actually make the mount-bracket not just leave a piece of aluminium in there....  the 'spot' caliper for mecanical / cable handbrake (road mot test & Msauk competition legality) - the handbrake cable could mount on the top-bush area of the hub / upright....  clearance is clearance?  clearance?  better view....  another view showing clearance to outside of caliper & pad covering the disc. more to post soon but time passes.... more faffin...  building a diff....  sandblasted the pigshead (can see the errosion around the flange boltholes!) asa, like most diffs it was somewhat crusty  black Hammerite smooth (free advertising?)  this is the second coat, hopefully tomorrows sunlight will bake the paint to a good, hardwearing finish  subject of diff...  its a Kazz 1.5 way plate LSD  the 'internals'. can see the 'ramps' that tighten the clutches on acceleration & deceleration (25/45 ramp angles if that means anything to you?)  interestingly theres a ring of weld on both 'sunwheels' (the ones that connect to the driveshafts) - different designs / makers have different methods, the Kazz LSD has a good reputation so this will not be a problem more faffin to follow.... Ooofff what a box of bits, I think this is also the route I'll be going to be honest. I can't remember if you still have the 1.6 or 1.8 ring gear or not, my memorys a bit prarrie canoe but I'm sure there was something regarding silly final drive ratios and can't remember what you have in there. What else in the box and, how much more did this hurt the wallet compared to the wishbones?  |
