..... seem to be holding very steady. MK2s are dirt cheap now and then there's a big gap up to the cheapest MK3s. I wonder when they'll start to drop down into banger money territory? I'm looking forward to it personally. I never got on with the mk2 in terms of it's look even though it's a good drive. I really love the early MK3 sports, I think Mazda got it spot on and then gradually ruined it with each successive facelift. The only thing I dislike is the 4x4 ride height and the lexus style light clusters. Both easily sorted.

I hope it doesn't drop too much That said, I've no plans to change model. I really like the mk3 and I enjoy driving it every time I get in it. Quite agree about the height, don't mind the lights personally, and it's certainly worth upgrading the audio, but as you say, the basic modifications are easy. I think they just look fantastic when given a polish & wax.

Totally agree on the looks front, the MK3 with a lowering is the best looking MX5 in my opinion (lucky really as I have one), dont like the grin on the MK3.5 and 3.75. Totally disagree on price ... long live high priced MK3s

Also, what light clusters are you thinking of to replace the lexus style? I have a chip in one of mine and have pondered changing them...

A few people have tinted them completely red which is what I would do.

The 'lexus' style lights are easily remedied by fitting the facelift parts which are mostly red rather than mostly clear.

weirdly the mk3s appear to have 4x4 ride height yet when lowered even slightly scrape all over the place a mate dropped his 20mm and it scrapes more than mine.

There was no way the out-of-the-box ride height after fitting Meisterr Zeta S would have been practical for me anyway. I had to raise it about 20mm to stand a chance of getting out of my street.

I was seriously going to get mine fitted with lowering springs at WIM. I even went as far as enquiringly about price and then calling them to ask if they thought the speed pillows I have to navigate every day would be an issue. The next day I had an " incident" with one of those orange safety lights they fit to road cones. I was on the motorway, in the left lane and about three car lengths behind a hgv. The ruddy light thing appeared from between the hgv's wheels and there was nothing I could do to avoid it. It wedged on the rear suspension somewhere and got stuck. I had no where to pullover so ended up grinding along for a mile leaving a stench of burning plastic behind me as the thing ground it'sself into nothing against the Tarmac. Gave up up in the lowering idea after that if the car had been lower I suspect I would have lost the bumper.... Lowered nc1's look lovely but I fear they are too impractical for me.

The lower the prices get the better the second hand market for parts get. I will be looking at doing the 3.5 front end upgrade at some point so every little helps.

I don't think you can let freak incidents dictate what you do to your car, what if the lamp had been 3cm higher? Best raise the suspension then. Or 10cm higher, better swap for a hilux... Personally I'd much rather something big and heavy damaged my bumper than smashed my sump, fuel line, brake line, suspension etc.

Can say if you are going to worry about the bottom of your car a lot then the -30mm from WIM will just make you worry more ...
