Meh... so close... "We've made good progress on the car. If it wasn't for delays in getting some parts we'd be able to fire it up this week. We're waiting for a few components to finish power cabling for the alternator and main relays and fuses. Once we have this in we can connect the ECU and start powering things up and get the engine running. I will get back to you early next week with another update". Wannabe... you have a chance to take the lead. Get it done this weekend mate

I'm not sure mine will happen this weekend - I need to write a presentation for this job interview and I need to nail it... lol

I need to write a presentation for this job interview and I need to nail it... lol No pressure then. Good luck! Thanks! I need to apply for my own job tomorrow then do this presentation for another place next week, and *hopefully* I'll have another one after that as well. Jobs are such a hassle, lol. Would be nice if I can get a payrise and walk to work, though, rather than spending £250 a month and 10 hours a week commuting...

Feel like you already have it, feel thankful and happy imagining it... Then wait for reality to catch up. You'll do well.

I have a video, but it shows my numberplate. So I will have to take my own when I pick it up. Sounds a tad loud haha. Exciting times. Just a few minor jobs to finish... bonnet cut, sump, tune.
Pretty crazy... How long I've been waiting. Maybe six months deciding which tuning or engine to go for. Pros and cons of turbo, SC, ITB etc. Looking at weights, gearbox limits, costs. Then a year collecting parts and saving. Loads from USA or Japan. Months waiting for more saving. An entire summer waiting for instal. Must be two years from the first thoughts to now...
And its almost over and done. Mad.

Great news! It's a long time, but at least you've spent some time looking at the options before buying the parts ... I usually just buy a load of parts and then start researching if / how they might fit!

I was looking at some retro cars recently. Upon reflection it becomes so blatant how absurd the whole horsepower war has become. Huge numbers on ever fatter cars coming from car factories. Tuners adding a zero on the end of sanity. The world has gone a tad mad.
A car I once dreamed of... my old boss's new 993 Carrera, in '95. Perfect sculpture in gleaming silver. Those soft on the eye wheels, minimal black cabin, perfect rear 3/4 stance. Pure art. At no time back then was it ever assumed to be pedestrian. Quite the opposite. Porsche's lovely Carrera was idolised and known as fast. Even with a "sensible" 280bhp and weighing 400kg more than our little karts.
Since those times I admit, I placed all Porsches in my mental trash can. The banker image was no longer acceptable post 2008 market manipulation and crash. Although time heals. I have to admit I am still fond of the squished beetle. A recent thread on PH reminded me.
Oh well, my thought / waffle of the day. A small dose of perspective.

A dodge challenger srt demon parked in my neighborhood the other day.
My 334whp 5 really felt outgunned by that.

The (edit: not quite final) latest dyno run was finished on a slightly cooler morning (finally, after our insane heatwave!)... Mapping is only 80% done. More tuning to follow later...

Engine is running very nicely and making the power we wanted. Not as high as some US tuners claimed with our mods, but enough. It will make a smidge more in the colder months ahead of course, with more dense air. My parts supplier also suggests I can use his upgraded valves for more as well. Anyway to balance out the good news, some minor niggles to iron out! There is a slight oil seepage. So the guys will be swapping the rear main seal. Engine out again. No biggie, just a bit more time. Can't believe Wannabe will beat me to the finish now. And using all his own skills to boot. Git. Jealous
