Thorough work - I am somewhat jealous of your front bumper area - I took my front bumper off this weekend and on one of the lower corners there had obviously been a prang. Oh well. not surprising given the age and state of my bumper - I too used MX5Restorer for a replacement bumper - always good stuff from them! I recently sanded back some rust in the same area on the sill where the kick plate sits. I have a feeling the vibrations of the car cause the kickplate to rub away the paint over time causing a small patch in those areas.

That’s really good👍🏻 It’ll be unrecognizable compared to when you first bought it. I honestly can't wait to see it for the first time when it's done, my mate's PS13 was the same, when he prepped it it was all different colours, filler on it, just looked awful. Soon as it was painted it was a completely different car. This has always had black overfenders, so it'll be great to see it actually one colour, and without the discoloured rusty sills. Worth the effort I hope, and just in time to enjoy it for the spring and summer!

Yeah that seems to be a common thing, it's all pretty good under there on mine fortunately, which I'm pleased about! They are good, the bumpers are a little more than I'd like to pay, but the person I was buying them from messed me about, so you do just pay for the service from them, you get it when you plan to get itl, and to be honest that's worth the money sometimes! Fantastic progress, it's all really coming together well now Yeeaaaaah boiiiii!

That wheelarch rolling tool, did you buy it or hire it? Looks like a good bit of kit.

That wheelarch rolling tool, did you buy it or hire it? Looks like a good bit of kit. It's just one of those cheap nasty Ebay ones haha, they're like 30 quid. It belongs to a mate, and another mate cut the main shaft (ooh matron) as it is generally too long for use on a lot of cars out of the box, even with the adjustability it has. It now suits an MX-5 perfectly. 100% recommend a heat gun to warm the lip up first, it's harder to roll and more likely to crack older pant without one.

Just ordered a front bumper from them too, as mine is looking really sad since my rattle can bodge has started peeling off.

Yeah take your time with it. I got mine all put back together a few days ago. I wasn't that thrilled with the condition of the bumper I got in the daylight. Only thing I can say is it hadn't been repaired with fibreglass patches like the one I took off.

Lol I sourced another one locally, but they had 1 in stock, and I was going to pick it up, and then there were none in stock so I guess you got it first hahaha. Thanks for the inspiration chaps. But needs must, I needed it done, and they're both prepped and ready now.

Got snap rings for my birthday, the DanST ones. They match the trumpet bolt hole spacing perfectly, but I measured the outer of my ITBs with a tape measure lol, I had the OD as 46mm, but it was actually 48mm with a set of calipers my mate used. Luckily he's a machinist, so he took them to work and machine them out to 48.03mm for me, very very snug fit! I need to trim the edges of the trumpet flanges as they touch, but test fitting they're going to go on lovely: I got to work with the FloFlex bushes, used a torch on the housings for each bush until the outer part of the rubber boiled and started coming out the sides, smashed them with a bar and a lump hammer, was fairly simple: Bushes on 3 corners of the car are now done and reinstalled on the car. Getting the new bushes in was ok as they're 2 piece, the inserts were a bit fiddly, I pressed a couple just to seat them better, but most I just put in by hand and tapped in or used a big C clamp. Bloody grease everywhere, it was disgracefully messy hahaha. Arms I cleaned with Gunk and then jetwashed, painted with Hydrate80 rust converter, and then sprayed with black underseal/stonechip. The bush holes/housings I used a rag and some thinners to get the old rubber out so they were nice and clean. Got them fitted, some of the outer washers for the bushes were a real pain to fit into the subframe mountings as they just pop out. Did some filing on the mounts, bit of levering here and there, and all in (on 3 corners). New upper front ball joints as well. Also new Genuine Mazda alignment bolts all round. A mate of mine bought a 4.67 diff ring and pinion, but then swapped his mk2 for an E36, so I bought it off him: This is going to be spicy! Got the gearbox off for the replacement one, clutch and flywheel are also removed: Rear main seal was bad, so I'm glad I bought a new one! I went with the £30 Genuine Mazda one, because it's such a pig to get to, may as well just do it right. The £6 aftermarket one was a bit cheap in comparison haha. I should have just pulled the engine, this was not fun: New flywheel as well from a certain someone on here: 4kg vs 8.1kg, big difference! Also bought a new gearbox rear seal for the new box, and I've got new shift boot and stuff for the shifter. Should all be going back in tomorrow, I also bought the upgraded 40% stiffer rubber engine mounts from MX5Parts. Paint is booked in for the first weekend of May, it's really getting there now!

Measured once (badly) then made him do the cutting haha, it's better off leaving the machining to someone with an actual lathe haha.

Looking good, need to get another video flyby with the new ITB setup.
Definitely recommend a bronze shifter bushing if you've not got one already for your re-fresh, with a short shifter.
Thing will absolutely rip once you've got it on the road again.

Oh yeah there will be videos for sure, these trumpets should get rid of that horrible mid throttle hiss/whistle too, which always annoyed me with the old ones. I think I just bought a nylon one or whatever they're made of. Honestly I've lost track of the things I've bought at this point haha. I can't wait, red roof will have to wait a while, but will get it sorted in a month or two.

I tried nylon and it was still a little sloppy, bronze bush is another step up again. Looking forward to the vids.
