It's OBDI rather than OBDII but you can extract any stored fault codes from the Diagnostic port with an LED (North American market Miatas got a check engine light, rest of the world didn't).

unfortunately I cannot remember much else, my father could have added some bits but he died in December so I cannot ask him Rich. My condolences, Rich - it comes to us all but that doesn't make it any easier It sounds like you and him had a lot of fun and were 'partners in crime' lol

Had a search but couldn't find anything, though I gather for fault codes I just need an LED.
Either way, sounds like I can't really do what I was hoping (get a live feed of RPM, throttle position etc for data logging on track).

You'll only be able to do that with an aftermarket ECU sadly

There is a newish smart gadget which fits in the Diagnostic port and logs more information but I can't remember where I read about it and which parameters it logs (but it wouldn't have TPS info. RPM would be available but I can't remember what else appears on the port.)

Rich.

I was just about to post again anyway! I know it's not very rock'n'roll, but it would be nice to have some cupholders. Has anyone replaced the ashtray or something else in the centre cubby with something like this?

I removed the centre-consul to gain more arm space (and NO. I'm not a gurillah!)
Rich.

I've also removed my centre console. I have the original Mazda cup holder like this this which you are welcome to have for the cost of postage. You will find that if there's actually anything in it, it'll get in the way of the gearstick and be really annoying.

Thanks, I'll give it a go! My car has a short shifter fitted so maybe it won't get in the way too much. I'll send you a PM, cheers
