Hi All,
Joined a few days ago and just finding my way round. I’m based in Mayo on the wild Atlantic Way but also spend time a lot of time in Belfast.
Had a Westie 2.0 Zetec on 45’s with emerald 3D ecu until recently and also have a G Wagon 460 (1987) restored with modern diesel & 6 speed. Always knew I’d want to get back into something small & quick hence landing here.
My ideal 5 would be a modified restored mk1 running about 200bhp.
There was a red 2.5L duratec with some work having been done by Rodders (so said ad) up a few months back on eBay which would have suited nicely but couldn’t get to view.
Read the awesome Honda V6 thread, what a build!
I’m in no rush, it’s just going to be a weekend toy and I need to learn a lot more about everything.

Sorry to post this in the wrong section but I posted in the engine section an admittedly very broad question that hasn’t been commented on - not sure why it didn’t come up as a “new” post?
Anyway - Early 06/07 NC engine weakness re oil use? Turned in seals, blocked PVC, and a possible myriad other reasons - I’ve not seen anything conclusive for either identification of the problem or a solution to it - just wondering if there is a more recent conclusion to this problem - big deposit already paid and picking up next week.

Cheers All. I'm not personally aware of NC oil use issues but then I am not the oracle of everything  lol How much use is 'a lot'? I've run french hatchbacks that did 1 litre per 1000 miles, so anything less than that is perfectly acceptable to me  |

Cheers Wannabe - I’ve read some horror stories on US and other UK boards so it seems like an issue but maybe I’m conflating and confused - wouldn’t be the 1st time - hopefully others will jump in with their thoughts - appreciate the response.

Have you seen the turbo'd mk1 for sale on Gumtree? An absolute minter with a crazy spec. Over £5k... But probably twice that spent building it. It's on the north coast, portrush direction.

Yep saw it a few weeks back and was tempted but also if I’m honest it was a wee bit too tracky looking - I was very conflicted as it is a great spec and price for over here, kept going back to the ad and mulling it over .............. but deposit down on an NC a few weeks back and heading over to England this week to collect and drive back - more to follow.

Cheers All. Only just spotted this, basically yes there are a load of issues with the NC engines ... I don't think there's any definitive solutions yet other than replacing the engine. Russell |

07 with nearly 100k on it, FSH - seems to have been looked after, we’ll see. I’ll keep plenty of oil with me for the rather long drive home.
If there is a thread on all NC engine woes be great if somewhat depressing read😊
