I’m trying to find information on what helmets are ok for use during trackdays. My local track only says ‘approved helmets are mandatory’ but doesn’t provide further details. Anyone know what stickers I should be looking for?

Crikey! On all the track days I’ve been on over the decades and it’s a lot, I have never had anyone look at my helmet …. Ooo errr.
Seriously, if it’s a good helmet don’t worry about it. A track day is nothing like an RAC covered event.
Regards. Rich.

If you are not wanting to spend a lot and just want protection then an OMP Circuit evo will be fine and 100% track day legal. That will set you back about £70-80. Thats what I have. If you want a little more, FIA/Snell approval, or have a car that is basically a race car/very quick then I'd consider a race helmet instead (or if you just want to look like a hero). An Arai GP7 would be my choice, thats what I would like but its £900 in FRP .

Thanks both. Seems like I might have been over thinking it. Looks like the Sparco Club X1 is a decent option too.

Any old crash hat will do for a trackday. If you have a soft top it'll need to be full face (i.e. with a bit around your chin) but open face is OK if you have a hardtop. Would suggest you get one that fits nicely and isn't too heavy, but no need to spend a lot, it doesn't have to meet the latest FIA standards or be 'in date'.

Take a look at Hedtec for very reasonable FIA/Snell approved lids. If possible try a bunch on to find what fits best. For trackdays, anything ECE approved is fine (which is most helmets these days), but the extra safety for a few extra quid should be a no brainer (lol).
