Is there a consensus on what the best brake discs and pads are for MK3s? This would be for street use, autosolos and track days.

discs , I'd say genuine Mazda as they'll have the best quality control as to pads, plenty of people will recomend "XYZ" brand but is that based on forum / anti-social media knowledge or personal ecperience? Rich.

Hi there. Standard discs and Paul Roddison pads. That will cover road use and track day events.
This is personal experience for both the NB and the 2.0Lt NC sport MX-5. The standard NC is slow enough to not need much braking anyway and the above is very good value for money.
No squeal. Work from stone cold. Minimum brake dust. Great feel and feed back.
Couple the above to some very good over the counter new brake fluid and your done.
Now go thrash it!
Regards. Rich.

Consensus? No, absolutely not!!🤣 I recently started an argument by asking the exact same question ... went something like this ...
First reply, Mintex pads are superb
Second reply, I tried Mintex and hated them because XYZ, so got some Roddison pads which are amazing
Third reply, I had some Roddisons pads but they wore out really quickly so got some Carbotech pads which are expensive but totally worth the money
Fourth reply you must have a problem with your car, my Roddisons pads have lasted me XYZ years and track days. Also, no way are Carbotech pads worth the money
Fifth reply EBC are great, no need to spend more
Sixth reply EBC used to be decent but they don't last long or work well, why would you buy them?!
etc, etc ... try to get a ride in someone's car or find someone you trust that has a similar setup & use to yours. Personal preference and differences in use make a lot of opinions irrelevant

Standard solid disks or brembo hc's, no real need to waste money on anything else here. Pads for trackdays: PBS or Carbotech XP10 > Braided lines (ie. HEL)
And...
The most important component that will make or break these upgrades...
BETTER FLUID.
Perferably Castrol SRF but Motul RBF 600/660 would be fine too. DO NOT just buy some generic dot 5.1 for £10 and think it will be better. The more you spend on fluid here the more you'll make up for in not wasting your money/time managing brake temps on track.
