Hello all.
Still learning about my NC 2.0 Sport.
Two track days in now and on the last one I have discovered a few things. Now a lot of you already will know this I’m sure, but I didn’t. Late to the party.
DO NOT DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS.
OK, now that I’ve got your attention what I am about to write is for the track only. And ………..NEVER FOR ROAD USE ……… I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS.
I’m sure that on the road it is …. ILLEGAL AND WILL INVALIDATE YOUR INSURANCE.
I wrongly diagnosed a problem. Zed and I were on the track at Llandow a couple of weeks ago. My first outing with the new to me NC. As Zed will tell you I was carrying some extra weight in the form of er, well, Zed!
Out of the slow corners the car ‘bogged-down’ I thought it was a lack of torque. I was wrong. I’ve since read up about how the traction control and dynamic stability system on the NC work. One of the things it does is cut engine power whilst the car sorts things out with the rear wheels. This of course kills the momentum. I was too busy to be watching the TC lights flashing away. And Zed being old was asleep.
Fast forward to yesterdays track day. Press button to turn off traction control. Keep button depressed for ten seconds and also tun off dynamic stability control.
The difference out on track is night and day!
Also one step more. Doing that does not turn off the traction control off 100%. There is still a braking assist function running.
To do that you will find on each side of the rear suspension area in the boot a small two cable joiner block. If you disconnect these then that turns it all off 100% but still retains ABS on the front brakes.
I cannot convey to you here in words just how this transforms the cars performance. No more slowing down that you can’t control. Corner speed is now at max ability.
As I say …… DO NOT DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS.
Regards. Rich.

exellent, free 'power' and ~100kg lighter although I'm not 100% sure what is refering to the car or driver's state (mental / physical) ? Rich.

I permenantly disabled DSC on my Mini R53 when I had that as it had the same issue, going from 160hp to 284hp rendered the DSC software useless and would horribly and dangerously cut power. It was so annoying having to remember to turn it off so pulled the fuse and changed the toggle switch to turn off ABS instead as well, turning traction control off shouldn't invalidate insurance as it would be difficult to prove in an accident that it was the cause or whether it was off at the time or as a result of "damage" in an accident. ABS might be a little harder to prove as its easy to see two black lines on the tarmac.

....so pulled the fuse and changed the toggle switch to turn off ABS instead as well..... oooh, how did you do that? Just in case I ever decide to take mine on track.

Its quite some years ago now, can't remember exactly but I think there are 3-4 fuses so it was a lot of trial and error. Might have even had some stuff done on the remap too iirc
