Strange the renewal can be done on line for Bristol MC club, but it seems not for signing up, odd, drop them an email you may be able to fill in electronically and do a transfer as is done for renewals. Unfortunatelt a lot of motorclubs are still in the stone age so event entries and payment are often done by cheque and post, so even if you get out of that one there is no getting away from it. But when I was on about license I wasn't on about the club card, those typically come pretty quickly, one or two have expressed an interest in entering an Autosolo championship, for championships you require an MSA non Race National B license that can take some time and with the first events being in January/February for some its a good time to get it started. www.msauk.org/Competitors/Competition-Licences

Yes - my first MSA licence took a long time, particularly if you are taking any medication or had any health issues, even for non-race B licence, the medical stuff is guide thorough!, Mind you, I'm old - you young'uns are probably healthier. You've got to get a passport photo too.

Sorry if this already been said but. How much is the license required for hill and sprints? Its a non race national b license? Also could one hire gear from any where? Would make more sense on my budget to rent suit and helmet etc

No one does kit hire AFAIK. Even if they did I'm not sure it would be that cost effective as they would demand quite a deposit on top of the rental fees.

I won't lend my kit out for the simple reason that I don't want it damaged, it's there to save my life. Not saying you would, but accidents happen and then you'd owe me a new set etc. Just something I'd rather avoid. It's a big financial commitment for a once a year thing. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not. My opinion would be to to stick to the stuff like AutoSolos and gain cheap experience there while saving for the kit. Sadly motorsport is an effing expensive hobby.

I should also point out my kit was biught with a combination of savings and vouchers.
FOr the year before I started sprinting I asked everyone who would buy me a birthday or Christmas present to get me Demon Tweeks vouchers. I then rocked up at AUtoSport with a fist full of vouchers, some cash and haggled hard to get all my stuff at quite a discount on list. I basically ended up with a free balaclava and Momo Prototipo wheel.
