Car is now with Skuzzle for fuel tank repair (washer) or replacement if required, plus all seals/gaskets replaced on the engine as it is leaking oil at a steady rate.
Plus lots of other bits and bobs, including the adjustable droplinks from Moss, all new alignment bolts, bleed brakes, headlight aim, and lots of little things I just don't have time any more to do myself.
Once it's back from Skuzzle I'll take it down to his preferred alignment guy to have the alignment setup he recommends and then it's time to hit some summer trackdays!!

Car is back from Skuzzle, list of work done: Fuel tank replaced (old one was leaking from rat piss based corrosion ) All engine seals replaced Adjustable cam gears replaced with re-drilled standard (exhintake mod) New alignment bolts New adjustable ARB droplinks Ride height raised 10mm Brakes bled Mapped by Nick Full alignment The alignment guy said one of my rear arms is bent so it's got slightly more camber in the rear than the usual settings Nick tried to fix my handbrake but one of the rear handbrake pivots on the caliper is seized. Nick did his best with the time and budget I had left but something has happened since I picked it up and now I have no handbrake :-( I think 2 new or refurbed rear calipers are required. When I picked it up the throttle was sticking and being very slow to return. Nick said he thought the throttle cable needed replacing, I thought I'll manage that myself. On the way home and over the next few days it got much worse, from mildly annoying/embarrassing to downright dangerous, so I took it to a friend to help me replace the throttle cable. There we discovered (with much relief!) that actually the cable had been re-installed incorrectly, it was too tight and not allowing the spring on the throttle bodies to do its work, we reset the cable and that fixed the problem. Thoughts after getting it back: It sounds much better, with Nick's wizard map it's running better, smoother, and healthier, meaning the engine sounds better. It also pops, bangs, and crackles much more than it did, which is great! It goes round corners even better now, I really like the alignment, but I think the front wishbone or control arm bushes need replacing as it wanders a lot and likes to follow the camber of the road. I don't know if that's the alignment or the bushes. It's not toed out so I don't think it would be the alignment. It does have a tendency to want to steer left under load, which makes high rev gear changes "interesting". I'm holding the steering wheel centred with quite some force because it's steering left, as soon as I hit the clutch, the left force disappears, so my "centering" force turns into steering right, so I relax my grip on the steering wheel to make it straight again, but as soon as I hit the accelerator it wants to steer left again so I end up doing a gear change shimmy.

Went to the Evo Triangle, a very short trip, pretty sure I got done by a mobile camera van. Oh well, but the views and roads are canoeing brilliant. Last night I fitted the Jass Performance upper shift boot.
Prior to that I had the Doctor MX5 lower and upper, but the upper split and it looked unsightly (I don't have a gear gaiter). I quite like the retro look of the Jass Performance item and had read a couple of good things online so I ordered one to replace the Doctor MX5 upper.
I was a bit disappointed with the Doctor MX5 upper as it had been fitted for less than 12 months and for it to split in that time frame makes it no better than the OEM item.
The Jass Peformance item is expensive at £41.50 including delivery so I expected big things. When it arrived it looked the part and I was suitably impressed. When I came to fit it however, I was very disappointed. The holes don't line up and the stainless steel hardware provided is too short. I had to use my Dremel to enlarge the holes and get them to line up with the holes in the tunnel, and then use the fine sanding tool on the Dremel to reduce the thickness which considering the time taken and trial and error involved, made this item extremely overpriced.
I had been considering a Jass Performance shorty console, but based on my experience with this item, I won't be buying it.
