Sorry, more noob questions...
I'm presuming helmets are not required, but I'll take mine anyway though I haven't checked my headrest for clearance yet. I'm guessing theres no other clothing requirements - I've heard that you must wear long sleeves but I may have misheard that?
I've also seen in pics that when you walk the track before runs everybody in the pics are wearing hi-vis. Will I need one of those?
Is there any restrictions on spectators? Not that I was planning on having anyone with me, just interested...

Helmets - Not required but wear one if you want. I know of one person who does.
Hi-viz - Never worn one when I've walked the course unless I happened to be wearing a marshalls one.
Spectators - Totally depends on venue/club. Ask them.

I've never worn a helmet, but have heard of it being demanded (for that horrendous 30mph crash into a hedge that you might have?!). Personally I'd suggest that the reduced vision and hearing impairment is a greater risk to others than head injury to yourself.
Never worn long sleeves, have been asked to put windows up to stop flailing though.
Never worn hi vis to do a walk around. No sensible reason why it would be needed. #elfnsafety
Never heard of spectator restrictions except for no dogs in livestock fields. Parking is sometimes an issue though so I wouldn't go mad with it. It's sadly not nearly as exciting to watch as it is to do it!
The idea is, and I think some clubs forget this, it is meant to be an inclusive entry to the motorsport world, its meant to be fun and meant to require nothing more than a taxed/mot-ed car and an MSA membership card. If the elf and safety wombles have descended on a particular event I would suggets you try others as they are generally very laid back. I have only even seen one car damaged at an event, and have never seen any injuries or near misses aside from that one incident. There is little risk as long as you are not an idiot. Generally idiots don;t get invited back. It works well.

Helmet not required but have seen people wearing them, no one will laugh if you feel safer doing so then please do what makes you comfortable. Long sleeves not required, trackday organisers often ask for that, not at a solo Hi-vis, I have my own so do wear it but the organising club will provide for marshalling and people often leave them on. you can bring a spectator but depending on venue they may not be able to leave early or arrive later than you do, basically if they come they should expect to be there all day, perhaps helping out as marshals if they want or just loitering about the paddock. I have actually seen two cars roll ( well one was an almost roll ) at a solo in my time doing it, basically elk test fails so whilst I agree it is entry level and very safe, it's still motorsport and potentially dangerous.

Nice to meet you guys today, looked like you were all having fun some nice tricky layouts today, I struggled to find pace to even be in the same ball park as the other NatB guys like Mike today so bad day for me, don't mind when I am a few tenths off, but I was 6 secs down in the first course that is particularly bad for me Still I enjoyed myself despite the lack of pace, I got a bit quicker in the after noon, but lacked consistency through runs.

That was a whole lot of fun! Timing wise I was inconsistent, being slow on the first lap and fast improving lap after lap - if I was always at my fastest time I'd have done quite well...
but more importantly that was one of the best things I've done in a car since me and the missus was dating!
I'll definitely be doing the Oxford one, possibly the one before, but I definitely need to get some better tyres for it, my Chinese gym-mats did not hold a line anywhere near as well as I thought they did from road use - Slow times but hilarious consequences!!!
I'll get a couple of pics up when I get around to hosting them.
Great to meet everyone, Richard and Jon, and A giant thanks to Sandys for helping us all get there and on the day. Cheers!

I have a bit of onboard will upload at some point, though as is typical for me I did not record my best runs, remembering to hit record is a weak point.
