Sounds like you need more rear bias on your brake set up with those A048Rs. 595RSR are dogcanoe in the wet. Interesting. Tell me more because I think I'm just going to run A048Rs all the time

If you move the bias rearwards a touch you'll find it locks up less and should be less squirmy under braking. I run mine 50/50 but that might be a bit extreme on the road.

595RSR are dogcanoe in the wet. RSRs are definitely not an Autumn/Winter tyre... A few damp leaves on the road and it's like ice skating at times! That said, I suspect any semi slick will be like that. Match the tyre to the conditions. I wouldn't consider RSRs for all an all weather car unless I had a second set of wheels.

I have a set of Nankang NS2R's for when I want to play and a set of Toyo's (that came with the car) for when I don't. The plan was to swap the Toyo's for some rainsports but I never seem to get round to it and then just leave the NS2R's on.
Tyres are a personal thing in my humble opinion, I would never recommend any since we all want slightly different things out of the tyre and drive our cars differently............ canoeing heck I sound old !!!!

I'm getting some AD08R next. I've had khumo kh31 and hs51 in the past and they're decent for the price!

Just had Uniroyal Rainsport 3's fitted for the winter, can't fault them and they seem to offer excellent grip in the wet. Great value too. Then again I've nothing to compare with as the original Kumho's were past their best.

I have seen these in the wet.. i can vouch for them, Ricky was Canoeing rapid on a flooded combe at forge action day.. i couldnt keep up on my nankangs and they were actually good in the wet!

arghhhhhh i am in dillemmasssssss. do i get a spare set of wheels and put semi slicks on and keep them for track or do i just let mine wear out and get a set of sticky soft road and track tyres??? I really cant decide. How long do semi slicks last? how long do sticky roadtrack rubber last!!??

In my mind the problem with running semi slicks daily is you put them through a lot of heat cycles which reduces their performance over time faster than you lose tread.
A second set of wheels and tyres is the way to go IMO.

Was running Federal 595RSRs over the summer and agree with everything that's been said on them above above - great value, really good dry grip, always feel a little 'on edge' in the wet. Like any tyre of this type they're hella useless now that the temperature has started to drop. In cold wet weather they are genuinely scary.
Now back on to my winter wheels with a set of Toyo Snowprox S953 - much more comfortable in the cold and wet. I should also note that I gave these a right good thrashing in the early portion of the year... they did around 5 autosolos, performed passably, and haven't worn very much at all. Definitely not a performance tyre but they take the abuse well!
