Fitted my new harness today. Had to move the 5/6 point fixings a bit further out than ideal because of the brake lines, but I think they are still ok. Blue marks are where I wanted to drill, but the yellow circle is how far I had to go. The spreader plates under the car do not sit flush against the floor, as the floor is not flat at that point, but not a lot I can do about that really. This is it all fitted, apart from the right hand belt, as I need a longer eye bolt. Only problem is that the belt overt my right shoulder doesn't line up perfectly with the harness bar, as it is slightly offset. It means the harness strap bends a but, but I think it is ok.

Just curious. What happened to the RS seats?

Sold them. Well, taken a deposit, and they are being picked up in a couple of weeks. I Canoeing loved them. Really, they were great, but got an offer that I would have been silly to refuse. Not mental money, but it made me realise that it was quite a lot of money sat in a car not really worth much more...

I need a set for mine. I have an rs and a previous owner obviously realised the same thing and sold them

Yeah, these are going back to an rs which is another good reason to sell them. It did feel a bit wrong having them in my car...

Went to Blyton a few weeks ago with MOT.
My only complaint is that it was too far away... lots of 5s there, and some more interesting things too. Some sort of kit with a turbo bike engine in it, a lancer that looked crazy fast, a couple of SR2s, an MG ZR that stopped on the sighting laps, and then blew up a little bit later on.
Was a great day, and did a tuition session with Nick that helped me massively. Being a relative newby I was doing my best, but going out with him really helped understand what i was doing wrong. When i stopped to think about how much faster and harder i was driving after the 20 mins, it was night and day.
Car held up pretty well. The only problem was my fault... went right through the front pads - right down to the backing plate. Fortunately I noticed the grinding noise as i came into the pits and it didn't damage the discs. 10 mins later, and i had new pads on. A quick bedding in run on the road outside the grounds, and we back on.
Obligatory dull video. A couple of laps from my session with Nick:

Since the last track day, I have fallen into the "Well, while I am there" hole again. I noticed a bit of smoke on fully throttle, and the copper gasket on turbo/manifold was looking a bit ratty so wanted to change that as well. Welll... my power steering was leaking, and i had a depowered rack ready to go in for about 3 years. Annnnd... I thought if i am getting rid of the power steering pump I can tidy up the intercooler pipework, which means clocking the turbo a little bit. Annnd... I want to get rid of the recirc valve and just dump to atmosphere instead. I can hear it anyway (i wanted recirc to try to keep it quiet) and it has an ugly long run of pipework that i would like to ditch. Annnddd... i had a small coolant leak where i had ditch the standard pipework at the water pump inlet, and got hold of a shortened version. Long (and boring) story short various things have been a pain in the rear canoe, and I think it shoudl all be back together tomorrow. Which is good as I am off to Snetterton a week on wednesday, and I really want to have it running for a few days before this weekend in case I need to fix any of my fixes... No pictures. But there is prarrie canoe loads of room with no power steering...

I lol'd at your pics and description of the harness fitting. This is because I did the same last weekend but forgot about the pipes and drilled straight through the fuel return line.

Well, I am glad you are using your own forum for it's ppurpose You know, researching work that you are going to do to your car before you do it, so you don't make any mistakes...

So, it is all back together: I ran it and it didn't spill its guts. Which was nice. Just need to sort out my dead battery, then work out of the new steering work actually works, then get it aligned. Then want to try moving the big ugly black pipe from recirc to just after filter, and vent to atmosphere. But that can wait.

New battery. Took recirc pipe off and vented to atmosphere. Chav-tastic. Going back on when it has cooled down a bit...
Have somehow managed ot make the coolant temp in shadow dash read stupidly high (it isn't). And the oil temp gauge also goes straight to 150 - think i have just grounded the signal wire, will take a look at that too
