I'm in Texas......Miata's cured my British Leyland obsession. . Down to just the 1980 MGB-LE, thats in pieces as well. I did a full resto on a '68 TR-250 once upon a time....Love that style car. Had thought of a Rover V8 in a TR-6 with the TR-250/5/4A front sheetmetal. I have too many projects.

Well, I am sitting on a '65 TR4A with the A-type overdrive and a spare TR6 engine at the moment

Since I see thruxton active on other threads, but no updates here - would it be safe to assume this project is dead in the water?

Thruxton/Richard, please put us out of our misery. Is this project still on going?
Thanks
Ben

Well, I received disappointing news over the weekend - while doing my regular oil change, I removed the oil cap while the engine was running and discovered I have developed a discernable amount of blow-by somewhere in my engine. So now it appears that it's days are numbered, and it may not survive long enough to see thruxton's build come to fruition. I need to start exploring my options ...

Poor engine, how common are the engines where you are?
Hopefully Thruxton's build isn't seeing set backs like that.

Thread revival I am thinking of doing this v6 swap myself For no other reason other than it will be a fun project and an awesome car at the end of it, plus it appeals to my inner nerd and tinkerer🤣 I have seen complete 3.0 v6 S types, MOT failures, for a couple of hundred quid so I plan to get one and strip it out - loom and all. I’ve got some fabricator contacts for subframe etc I might use the v6 intake and fabricate a bonnet bulge but let’s see Anyway, once I start, probably autumn, I will start a thread.

Sorry one and all. Yes the swap. Well erm ah yes.....
Firstly the excuses, but they are true ones. I'm old, don't ask. Point is when I get ill it's a sod and lasts ages. I had not one but two bloody kidney stones that where large. I opted for the as it's called "trial by pain". WTF! I didn't fancy any of the other options. Jesus, if you had stones then you know what I'm on about, if you haven't then lucky you. Then after months of getting better I badly cut my hand with a new wood saw that slipped, ooops! Again a bloody nightmare for me. Then to be honest I got into doing so many track days with my other MK2 that the project died death. And now that MK3 2.0 Sports are so cheap, well, I'm going there.
So the project. I'm sure it can be done and reasonably cheaply. I wasn't that far away in the end. But now I've seen some Rocketeer RR results I'm not sure it's the right engine. I thought it would produce a lot more than the ones I've seen.
If there are any questions I will try to be helpful.
Regards. Rich.

Interested in your views on the Rocketeer and the jag v6 engine Whilst looking at S types I saw a couple of v6 x - type awd manuals - cheap as chips, I’m thinking, strip out all the weight, cheap track car, might be a laugh!

Oh no Then I saw a 323 compact for beer tokens - good mechanicals - prarrie canoe body, perfect I am much conflicted and shouldn’t look at cars for sale whilst drinking gin and prosecco🍾🤣

The Rocketeer is splendid, no question.
Before it came to market I had a drive in Bruce's car, he that invented the Rocketeer . It was a MK1. Beautifully engineered and a complete package. A lovely thing to own and drive without doubt.
I had been thinking about the Jaguar V6, before I met Bruce. Anyway, he beat me to it.
As time has gone on and I have once again become more track focused I feel that the Jaguar V6 is not the way to go for a power plant. However, for the road it's possible one of the very best options, if some what expensive. But I say again, the kit of parts is top draw engineering and the end result is a thing of great beauty and desire.
Regards. Rich.

Hi Rich, Would you mind sharing some of the solutions you came up with along the way now that the project is dead? How you were going to solve the hood clearance? The rare Ford part that was part of the flywheel/clutch solution? Stuff like that. Was always curious what you came up with. Regarding the quote above, what alternatives are there for a track car? The only engines I can think off that might come close in terms of power density would be something like a turbo/rotrexed Duratec...but nothing that would be understressed comes to mind.
