So? Book your MOT and drive to the testing station, or are you expecting to fail? Get on with it!

Ticket in hand, one minor for tyres Emissions c.1% CO, 450 HC - not bad for no Cat, 160k miles and being put back together by my soft, office-dwelling hands We're ignoring the fact I had to get them to fix a bodged indicator and ruined foglight, lol. Irritatingly it seems the washers weren't working, though, despite working when I set off. Terribly crap manual switch now in place in the dash, so I'm going to have to see about investigating and reverting to the OEM connections again. Can't be doing with two things to fiddle with just to wash the window. Replacement rack I asked them to fit is much better - no apparent play in it (unlike the previous one) so should be much better to drive when I get the alignment done. Feeling like it was going to snatch the wheel out of my hands when going over a change in camber or the crown in the road, and then spear me into roadside furniture or trees, was, er, 'interesting'. I'm glad I asked them to do it - seems the castle nuts were basically one with the thing they were attached to, haha. Need to think on settings. IIRC I had it set up as slight toe out at the front last time, maybe 1degree of camber and c.5degrees of caster? Then about 1.5degrees of camber on the back and zero toe / slight toe in?? It was a bit 'darty' on the motorway, though and I'm thinking maybe zero toe and less caster at the front might make the dePAS rack easier to catch if the back slides unexpectedly - right now it's pretty heavy when trying to rotate it at speed, and it used to load up quite a lot in the corners!

I forgot to say - it does feel pretty sprightly, and I've not even given it much stick yet. I presume that's the slightly increased compression at work? Would be cool to get down to Skuzzle or up to Blink for some tweaking of the power/torque curves via timing etc, but I think that would likely involve re-timing the cams, which is a faff and cost. Will probably just drive it TBH - looks like a solid week of sunny dry weather coming up, so I foresee lots of shopping for basic necessities coming up I might need to take a c.400 mile round trip next week, though - am wondering if I should be brave and take it... Will re-torque the exhaust manifold bolts, though - sounds like it's blowing, and I've not touched the manifold/downpipe connection so it must be at the head. (Now I'm wondering if I've forgotten to add the gasket, but there was nothing left in the parts boxes... although I did throw either the old intake or exhaust manifold gasket out when clearing the crap out of the car...) Even with that, exhaust sounds better than I remember - lots of character and not just 'LOUD'.

Go on then... announce the news another 3 months Lockdown, sorry I mean excuses? Rich. I am pleased to say that the friend I'm helping with Court stuff has managed to retain his kid for now, so the time spent so far has been quite productive in that sense Kid is now much more relaxed and no longer at risk, so I just hope we can do as well next time. Next hearing is going to be ultra-stress so not looking forward to it TBH - decisions there will pretty much be final, so the kid's whole health and education, and therefore possibly the outcomes of the rest of his life, depend on how it goes. No pressure...

No matter the outcome of the final case you did your best. A heroic effort so be proud of that either way. It's up to the universe now.

No matter the outcome of the final case you did your best. A heroic effort so be proud of that either way. It's up to the universe now. This is what the missus says, although I will feel like I've failed the dad and the kid if we can't get a good result next time I don't feel like I've done that much because the courts are so understaffed / overworked that case documents aren't uploaded onto the system in time for the judge to read, meaning our efforts have not been seen and we have zero legal training so are just fumbling along while trying not to get sideswiped by them doing something we didn't know about and didn't expect. Mind you, the whole process has effectively been Project Management at our end - the mental ex has been deliberately and accidently screwing up for so long that we sort of just need to collate the evidence documented by third parties in time for the hearings and then highlight all the lies and stupid things and contradictions. The evidence speaks for itself! Doesn't make it any less stressful, though... Her legal team quite literally just put bare-faced lies into their court documents (FFS) and attempt to 're-frame' the truth to suggest the exact opposite of reality, but the fact they (need to) do so pretty much shows what a weak position they are in. Come the next hearing we will have several solid months of evidence that shows how the kid is happier and doing better at school while with the dad, which can't really be argued with and is what the dad really wanted/needed in order to show how he's not the monster the mental ex says he is, and that all her wild and unsubstantiated claims and her BS excuses were just that. I will have a lot less spare time next time round, though so hopefully we can get some Legal Aid sorted out... (although I understand it's now unlikely if domestic violence has not been recorded/proven previously, thanks to changes in the Legal Aid system that basically mean the poor get Canoeed...)

Well done! Some good news in these strange times we live in, now drive it’s socks off! Thank you! Now I just need to find the V5 so I can tax it... lol EDIT: Ooh, I forgot - I've got a Jackson Racing intake that needs fitting, which can replace the utter crap ancient cone filter thing it's had forever... lol

Nothing wrong with a cone filter

I have a K&N cone filter on mine. So long as it's clean and of a large enough area that's the key I think. Many are washable.

Nothing wrong with a cone filter There's lots wrong with this cone filter lol But yes, I do agree - simple, works, cheap. I'm interested to see if the JR CAI makes a difference when I fit it!
