Apologies for dragging up an old thread but my car appears in the staff cars section in every issue of Total MX-5 and after a year from hell (including a house move) things are settling down a bit and I'm spending more time on my car (and on here, and hopefully getting out a bit more to events, Coombe Abbas etc). I'm in the process of having it turbocharged and will be messing around with it some more and reporting on it in the magazine, along with writing some articles. I'd be interested to hear of any ideas you might have for the magazine. I can't promise I can do anything with them (and I write for them on a freelance basis, I don't pretend to speak for or represent them) but stories on interesting cars, people, MX-5 events, modifications and so on are always worth suggesting. Any articles you'd like to see in print? Here's Dave, my '97 Mk1. Open diff (need to investigate LSDs), standard 'box (need to investigate a six-speed or sticking with standard), Team Dynamics wheels and currently too sticky Michelins (fancy some alternative wheels and Paradas!), ME221 already fitted and with turbo to come, needs a roll bar of some kind, decent seats (standard at the moment, have a Sparco Sprint but it's too small), will probably rattle can the roof in matt black, uprate the brakes - loads of stuff to do. I'll start a thread at some point and will ask for some suggestions on where to take it next.

Looks in good nick The Dunlop BluResponse have good feedback from 5 owners on another forum IIRC - my experience with Yokohama tyres has been that they are very on/off, whereas the Dunlops seem to be progressive at the limit. I've not tried them, though, as I went for Michelin PS3 on the basis I need as much grip as available until I know how to drive RWD...

I just subscribed to the magazine. 4 issues for £16 didn’t seem too awful. I ordered a free back order too. Looking forward to reading about your progress

I had the Yokos on my previous NA and really liked them. Immense in the dry, terrible in the wet but you always knew where you were with them. I'm guessing the Michelins will grip less when the car's turbocharged...

Nice - does Mighty5s get a mention ? It's worth mentioning a few other decent forums too :-) There's so much inspiration on the internet.
The Paradas are outstanding tyres for hot, dry days and pushing the car to the limit in the most honourable fashion - NA style, up the rev limiter, maximum Gs...
On a newly turbo'd car, IMO, you're safer on more progressives low-grippers until you know the new power curve better. I was spinning mine in 3rd in places on the smurf. I don't do that now.

I would imagine so at some point soon! Yeah, I'll stick with the Michelins for a while, I just liked the Paradas. Crap in the wet, great in the dry, predictable all the time. And sure, you go a bit slower when it's cold or damp or whatever but it's more fun. Turbo changes everything and I'll just have to spend some time working out what's what.
