So... where do I start?
Bought this in May 2012
Out of the factory, it would have looked like this:
When I got it, it looked more like this:
I have done a bunch of things to it, and will list what I can remember here, and then produce some photographic evidence of said work/hacking.
Bought it
Bought RS-Ltd recaros on the same day
Had garage replace waterpump in an emergency
Made my own dials
Fitted a brass gear knob - really heavy and love it
Bought some flush headlights. Fitted them, realised I couldn't see a Canoeing thing at night
Bought some moss twin hellas (in a pretty rough state and refurbed)
Bought some Jass low profile square lights
Swapped and changed the lights and eventually settled on the twins
Got wheels powder coated in gold (as an homage to the original bbs alloys)
Got a slightly dodgy number plate made - but looks a lot better on the front. Have since lost that to a stupid bastard pheasant, but got another one
Got some gas struts for the bonnet
Get some meister coilovers
Modified the tombstone to remove the top buttons, removed centre console - made replacements for buttons and a start button in a panel in place of radio
Fitted vindi ducktail
Crackle painted the cam cover
Made a new front bumper by deleting the sidelights/indictaor. Eventually got bored of doing this becuase it was Canoe loads of work, and quite fragile.
Bought a nardi deep dish
Bought a prototipo
Swapped back to nardi - much nicer feel
Bought a million sets of wing mirrors trying to find something that looked good and was usable. Failed. Have recently gone back to the originals
Bought a carbon miata shorty rear bumper
Got skuzzle to fix dodgy sill, and fit a TR lane rollbar
Fitted 1.8 brakes
Put fog light into a reversing light
Painted front bumper, rear bumper and bootlid. Realised I am prarrie canoe at painting and hate it. Stopped painting.
Bought an s2 front bumper instea do fmy home brew one. Still not painted or on the car
Bought some revlimiter dials (yeah, you guessed it - not on the car yet)
Then for a big birthday, my wife gave me some cash for a turbo build.
Did that. td04 with all the usual bits - ms2 enhanced ecu (from reverent), sturovo manifold, rx8 yellow injectors, FM clutch, mx5 dan intercooler, wideband etc. Currently running 190whp.
Also did coolant reroute, sorted rust in engine bay, took engine out to redo lots of seals, and drill the sump, cleaned the HLAs, redid timing belt etc, fitted mx5 dan radiator, mx5 dan washer bottle, oil cooler, oil temp gauge, removed aircon,
Then I have spent a long time sorting the turbo stuff out. Then got it tuned.
Then I drove it lots. And I have done 2 track days. And I am hooked... I will be doing lots more.
