Just be glad it ran  I'm trying to remember, was this a recently rebuilt engine ? And are you running a controlled boost or is it wastegate ? I had a log manifold before getting a CFD'd cast one from the same company (G19) and it went from 160@wheels to 220@wheels based on just that change and a tune. Given you're stateside I think the ideal combo there is the FM mani and T25somethingsomehting, or if you are forged, a borgwarner. And obviously pull the injectors and get them cleaned and tested, or, just replaced.. |

Annoying. On the other hand geting something better than the yellows is a good thing. And you probably have a much better, smoother map now? If so its easy just adding boost later on. yes. new injectors on the way. and is definitely feelign a lot better than before. He said that becase of of injectors not being matched very well, he was having to add more fuel than he normally woudl to make sure one of them didn;t lean out too much. so new injectors, and a quick visit back and that should be better. Recntly as in 4 years ago, but on just run. Yes, it has boost controlled. i was looking at the g19 ones as i have heard good things about them, but i guess i should look at something here as well. I did have an appointment at the DMV to get it registered, but only realised late last night that it has to be insured first. Moved the appointment to this afternoon, so i can investigate... Likely to be hideous. so it may stay unregistered for a bit longer. On the plus side, my wife suggested that I look at entering the SPEC miata series here becuase there aren't (m)any UK style track days around. I did tell her how much that might cost... but she still suggested it. woop! |

It survived the dyno and injectors are an easy swap, win win! Hopefully you get it registered and can drive it to the dyno next time!

Easy - get a larger mitsu turbo, mani to suit
Less easy - be prepared to reweld the hotparts and such. Get any turbo you fancy. The borgs or a gtx2860r gen2 comes to mind.
But then again, much power explodes new and exciting parts of the car.
Set your power goal and build around that. A forged engine will take what you throw at it. The trans will not.
I figure that a ~220whp 5 is the most playful kind. And its quick.
250-260 is starting to get fast
334whp is scary at first, and is the most I've tried. I don't really feel the need for more and last year I ran low boost (260whp) on most b-roads due to that being easier to drive spiritedly since it demands less throttle...eh..planning. But then, I regularily run high boost for the insanity of it.

Perhaps they are loose and that will find another 30 hp... I was about to get it registered, and then realised it needs to be insured first. Phoned my broker, and it turns out that nobody will insure me on a foreign licence. So i need to pass that test first... which is coming up soon. The upside is that it is only going to cost me $490 for the year, instead of $800 for six months for the mini... I don't understand this place. |
