Passed OUT? Passed Muster? Passed the Dutchie (on the left hand side)? passed driving test? Rich. Do you not read this thread in great detail and remember every single detail of my life? SHame on you. Driving test. Just the written one, I don't have to tak the practical as I have a swiss licence. The test is ridiculous. I failed it once becuase (no excuses, but...): - I didn't learn the process of a new driver getting a license at 16/17 as i will never do that. But i still got asked multiple questions about it. My fault.
- There are questions that ARE NOT in the bloody hand book.
These are the thigns i have to put up with: And yet they have time to discuss 'frozen dessert trucks': You have to get 40 out of 50 correct, and this time i got: - 4 questions about which way to point your wheels if you park up or downhill. This is not San Fran, we don;t really hvae many hills here. And there are only two directions you can park on a hill anyway...
- 3 questions about lorry blind spots - the nice bit is that one of the questions gave me the answer to the others
- 3 questions about the hours a probationary driver is allowed to drive in (5:01am to 11:00pm if anybody is interested)
- No questions about signposts, traffic lights, lanes or other regulations while actually driving
- I counted 3 questions that are absolutely not in the handbook
Anyway. I have passed it. So I can now insure the mazda, and get it registered. And then shake it to bits by driving on these roads. yay.

Possibly - my problem is I am comparing them to Swiss roads. Which were as smooth as a smooth thing

If the pass mark was 40 what did you get?
You must have it insured by now!

If the pass mark was 40 what did you get? You must have it insured by now! They stop when you get to 40... I got 3 wrong I think. The trick is to answer all the ones you definitely know. Skip anything you are not sure about Then go back and do then in order of certainty... They questions are ridiculous. From things like a picture of this sign This sign means A: stop here on red B: no entry C: left lane merges D: all of the above To intricate questions about how many passengers a 17 year old is allowed to carry of accompanied by a patent of guardian. And those questions are not in any of the practice tests. AND there are questions that are not even in the bloody highway code equivalent.
And both my wife and I got questions that repeated themselves in such a way that they gave you the answers to the repeated question.
Anyway, waiting for insurance company to approve. They wanted pictures of the car and garage to approve the value. No idea how long it will take them.
Then I have to go and get it registered at the DMV.
Then work out a way of getting it off the drive without having to take the front bumper of each time
Then I can drive it...
End of this week maybe?
I have a new project this week anyway - an outfit for my daughter's spring semi-formal. American schools are weird.

It is registered!
I am just making some slightly better bonnet catch things, and then i will take it out. Will post about them later.
Confirmed no inspection requried. Absolute craziness. But makes life easier for me.
So, it has taken me 10 months to get a licence (admitedly with one test failure in there...) and minus 10 mins to get the car registered. I turned up early, and walked out of the door 10 minutes before my appointment.

Awesome. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour š Too much to do this weekend... Will have to wait until the family have buggered off to school/work. And it needs an alignment badly. But have had a place recommended, so will try them next week

A few final jobs: - Waiting for seat belt to turn up for passenger side.
- I have put the harness in the driver side. Just need to chase out the threads on one of the holes as they got a big business up with sealant and stuff
- fitted windscreen wipers
- I made a start on the bumper cut out a well. Cut the hole, and have started to get the exhaust tip to the right profile. Once that is fine, I need to make the hole bigger for the shielding. More to follow.
Still need to - get indicators working
- get headlight motors working
- lots more stuff o haven't found yet
My biggest worry is still electrical. Wiper motor only seems to go one speed (very slowly) and I occasionally get a clicking sound from some component when ignition is in first position I thought I had that sorted, but it has come back

Your wiper motor is obviously related to mine.

Your wiper motor is obviously related to mine. When you work out the problem, let me know...
