OK... so I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I have started to strip this other car down, and on the whole it looks pretty good. I am a bit worried about the rear sills, and one the chassis rails is crushed to prarrie canoe (the other is absolutely pristine...) The more bits I take off, the more i get scared. Seeing the empty interior I am wondering if I should go for a stripped out track car. Or is that just being lazy? Whatever I do, it is going to take longer than I planned...

My new floor is in: And more importantly, I have just ordered my christmas present of quickjacks - yay! Pretty sure I am not going to be allowed to use them before christmas though. I am going to be getting rid of a bunch of things from this car, so look out for an advert. Or if there is anything you want - shout. Doors, bootlid, bonnet, auto rad, headlight motors, electric aerial to name but a few. Will stick an ad up when i get round to taking some pictures.

Floor tiles make working in the garage so much more pleasant! and helps keep the dust/grit down which always makes attempting clean assembly of bits so difficult. Good call! Very jelly of your quickajcks! Be methodical and don't get too depressed when you have a pile of bits and no car! I found a check list on a whiteboard in the garage a good motivator - each time spent out in the garage try and tick at least one thing off And try not to spend too many times out there fannying about not acheiving much, I spent way too many days like that and it quickly saps your enthusiasm!!

I have a car, and a car in a pile of bits... so less chance to get depressed, but agree the advice still stands. I am a big fan of white board. Have them all over the place at work, and have a massive on in my office at home too. I just have very littel wall space left...
And, it has been confirmed. I am not allowed to use my present until after christmas. boo.

My quickjacks arrived... By they sent the bigger ones (5000 instead of 3500) which I am pretty sure don't fit under the car.
Which is a bit annoying...

Just had a quick google (Mainly because I wanted to make myself a bit more jealous of said jacks) and from what I can see the 5000 has the same minimum collapsed height as the 3500 but it is 10" longer. Anyone got a tape measure and a 5???

Double check but going by the online specs for the 5000 and a quick measure of the 5 I think you'll get away with it.

Be annoying if it doesn't but defo check, the 5000 is 72.5" long and it was a real quick measure but it looked like it'd just about go.
On a different note A) that flying miata 5 is stunning and B) after watching that vid I now really really want a set of those jacks.
