Here is my project, purchased in August 2014 and it the first sports/RWD car I have owned. Previous cars were a mk4 fiesta and a corsa c, neither of which did I really do anything to. I saw this purchase as a platform to learn basic maintenance and some thing to have a bit of fun in.
Here is a cheesy photo from the day I picked it up...
so I drove it around for a year or there abouts standard, apart from a few little things so I will jump forward a bit in time to when interesting stuff startded to happen...
first bit thing was I bought some wheels, thought long and hard about what to buy. Looked at rotas and all the usual stuff but still liked the oem bbs wheels so I settled on these. Please bare with me on the photos, they getting better as the story continues.
£450 for four wheels and 6 tyres, thought i got myself a good deal there. Only thing I had to do was persuade someone to drive me the three hours to get them. The car sat on the clashing colours for a while whilst I saved pennies for coilovers and a refurb.
The coilovers came in the form of some HKS hipermax-d. With a name like that what could go wrong!? Had help fitting them from a fellow mx5 owner, turned up home at 2am and needless to say the girlfriend was not happy with me waking her up and how dirty I was. But I was happy the suspension was now on. No photos for some reason.
Between fitting the suspension and getting the wheels refurbed, someone posted an exhaust for sale that I just had to buy and a was given a lovely steering wheel as a christmas present.
It was a HKS box which i think was welded onto a standard mid section and came with another bumper. So that got hacked up and the cable tied on because I thought I was cool. I then drove round for the next few months slowly deafening myself and I loved it.
After that I had the money for a refurb on the wheels. When I say refurb I mean new lips, new hardware and powdercoating.
So this gave me some girth, going up 1" on the front and 2" on the back.
Fannying around with photobucket has taken so long that its now bed time. The story will continue, please don't be put off by some of the horrible decisions I made.
