LOL at the Wallace and Gromit teeth on the one in the garage They came with the car, I thought I'd take them off but they're actually pretty cool so I've left them! Russell

Bit of progress today, back end removed from the donor car ... need to clean it up a bit and then slot it into my car! Russell

I've had a look at the wiring in the shell and realised that it's been messed about with quite a lot. It started as a Mk1 1.6, was changed to a Mk2 1.8 and then a Mk2.5 1.8 ... on TBs, and then supercharged then turbo. All in all it's been chopped around quite a bit, so the most sensible route to take is to strip the entire loom out of the shell and put the loom from the donor in. A short while later ... It took a while to get to this point as there were a whole bunch of random aftermarket wires attached in various places for the stereo, immobilizer, second immobilizer and what I think we're for lights. Fingers crossed I haven't stripped out anything I'll need! Russell

Bought some new wheels today. Still trying to work out exactly what they are, but 15 x 7 et 35 and pretty light is good enough for me. Russell

Managed to get a bit more done on my shell and the G Ltd donor ... both are now completely wireless. Just need to start putting the G Ltd wiring loom into my car ... or that was the plan, until a friend with a turbo Mk2 said he might be breaking his car. I'm now having a quick break while he decides what to do, as I might need to put his Mk2 wiring loom into my car along with the engine and turbo kit!!
In the interlude I will start cleaning and reassembling the rear subframes, wishbones etc ... and maybe making a decision on which suspension to use

Progress ... got the rest of the wiring etc out of the G Ltd last week, with lots of labels to help me work out where it all goes!! Then I took advantage of a dry evening on Monday and got the front out of the G Ltd. Easier than I'd thought, once the subframe was unbolted and all the pipes and wires disconnected from the chassis I lifted the chassis off the front end and then wheeled the whole lot out using the PPF like the handle on a giant wheelbarrow Shell ready to be taken away ... Making way for the next one!! Which looks tidier than it is in the pics, courtesy of an old, tired vinyl wrap with rust coming through underneath in a couple of places. There's more to this car than meets the eye though ... Merc M45 charger run by a Megasquirt should be fun Russell

It's a shame to send another shell to the scrapyard in the sky, but good work on getting that all done!

I seem to have a knack at buying cars with problems ... the Mk2 won't pass another MOT without some welding to the chassis... and both subframes, every wishbone, both arbs, all the drop links, and every bush and bolt underneath the car being replaced. Soooo ... it will be broken, and I've bought yet another MX5. Strangely this one is yellow as well, although I think it's the original colour. Once I have it, I'll see what I can swap over from the Mk2 but the plan is to just fix the bits that need doing, get it an MOT and drive it! Russell

Seeing the line through the 125 door number got me thinking... you should have a stencil made up so you could have a fighter pilot style tally list on your garage wall of all the 5's that have come and gone. I'm guessing it would be a considerable amount having seen your posts going back over the years?

Cool idea ... would be cool to have that on the car wing ... not sure there would be enough space though?!! I'm not sure how many it would be, more than 50 at a guess Russell

You got vision and perseverance mate. How many mx5s you owned now? What's your other project? Cheers, I think about 65 MX5s now but that's just a guess. I've got them all listed but it's too depressing to count them up as there's several I wish I'd not sold on! I've got 3 MX5s at the moment ... The yellow Mk2 - now being broken The yellow Mk1 - going for MOT tomorrow, will become a daily drivable / fast road toy while I'm building up ... The BRG track car - dropped floors, full cage, Blink stage 2 engine on Jenvey TBs etc Other projects (there are 2) are a secret for now ... Not sure if they will work out yet! Russell
