Well it passed it's MOT, and was delivered back onto my drive while I was at work today And at the same time, the other yellow car was just leaving! My refurbed Wats were dropped off at the same time ... nice colour!! So obviously the first thing to do when I got home was test fit them! Yep, pretty happy with that! I made it to the Phoenix Fives meet as well, the car has been sat for a few months but it drove pretty well. It needs a bit of an Italian tune and there's a few things that need doing but for a cheap car it's remarkably solid. Rough plan is to tweak bits and pieces but mainly to get out and drive it! and just as the yellow one goes another mk2 arrives in the background... You don't half get through them! That's a temporary visitor ... it's a Jasper Conran with wilton carpets and everything!! I bought it as a replacement for the yellow Mk2, but the day after I spotted the yellow Mk1! I'll sell it as soon as I can, decent car but the Mk1 is so much nicer! Russell

I'm now 100% watching this thread, keeping my eye out for the next mk1 that ends up coming apart... Worst thing is, the ones you're stripping and scrapping g are in much better condition than mine! I'd be better off buying a shell off you and we spend the day swapping the engines!

The last 2 have both had hidden front crash damage as well as rust and badly done repairs. I don't like scrapping cars but when you see crash damage that's been hidden and bodged repairs I don't think it's safe to put them back on the road. The yellow one was 1.5 inches shorter between the wheels on the passenger side Russell

The Jasper Conran was going to be broken by someone else, but will now be put back on the road once I've sorted some previous bodges

I do wonder if mine is completely the wrong shape - it's apparently a bitch to do the tracking on because one side is at the limits of the bolts, the driver's door aligns when closed but bangs into the sill and strips the paint when closing, and the roof frame rear bar always falls down and lets the roof flap about when it's up because it just won't stay up! lol

Few changes to the car, added a Hard Dog Roll Bar ... I don't like a 5 without a Roll Bar, and some of the bars on the market at the moment (like the one prevuously fitted to this car) are almost worse than having nothing! I don't have any of mine at the moment so Hard Dog is the next best thing. I have a pair of door bars spare at the moment so they'll get fitted at some point as well I also got hold of a job lot of spares and amongst them is a soft top with a plastic rear screen, so that will hopefully go in tomorrow. I need to sort the suspension as well ... the standard shocks just can't control the uprated springs that have been fitted Russell

Quick addition before heading off on holiday I've had 3 point Carbings on just about every MX5 I've had on the road ... really smarten up the engine bay, plus I don't care what anyone says ... it does make a difference to the way the car turns in Need to sort the manifolds next ... Russell
