Afternoon! Slacked off on this, I know it's not the most fascinating build around but I'm trying to document where I can š Well the big news is I've decided I want a turbo, so plans are in the works to start budgeting and assembling parts! I'd like to do this properly with quality parts, so it'll likely take quite some time given the funds I'm going to need so don't expect much soon! Had a quick spin in Mark from total 5s recently finished turbo car, and even on 6 psi it was impressive, 10psi high boost was terrifyingly awesome so I need that kind of power in my life š Had a proper breakdown recently, a belt shredded after the water pump seemingly failed, and the extra pressure cracked the old crusty radiator... So new water pump and radiator etc and it's been smooth sailing for a couple months stack temp gauge added as well so I can actually keep an eye on it! Also these have arrived... Used hsd dual techs, courtesy of Chris's famed purple monster! Finally going to get rid of the knackered shocks and be in a position to get a good suspension setup/alignment

That's it for now, have a photo of the 5! I may have lowered it slightly in Photoshop...

So coilovers are on! Slapped them on a couple weeks back before heading to Avia speedshop in Bridgend for an alignment/setup. Andy at Avia is pretty old school, raced mx5s successfully for many years and does everything using more basic equipment, rather than a hunter system or similar. It was perfectly corner weighted to my surprise so no adjustments needed on the coilovers, believe he dialed in 2 degrees neg camber at the rear and 1.5 at the front, neutral toe at the rear and a touch of toe out at the front. The handling is absolutely sublime now! I've never had coilovers or a proper setup before so no frame of reference but the speed at which you can chuck the thing into corners now is awesome, way more confidence and the oversteer is far more manageable than it was. Got it all done just before the Brecon Beacons run with total 5s (admittedly my new 'local' club) and had an absolute blast, with a good couple of mountain road dices along the way. Still saving for turbo bits, however the newly refreshed suspension has made me fall in love with the car again!

IMG_5965 by JackMorris205, on Flickr Well I've officially started down the road to turbo goodness! The car likely won't see boost until the spring next year, just have to budget for the rest of the parts! I now have a used blackcat Motorsport manifold and downpipe, plus new gaskets, oil/water lines etc. The car needs a new clutch before boost, but it looks like the most expensive stuff I have left really is the ECU/mapping The car seems pretty ready otherwise, happy with the handling, tyres are good, brakes are good but I do need to overhaul the calipers, they aren't performing quite well enough for boost! Stay tuned, progress will be slow, but turbo is a bit more official with the acquisition of manifold bits!

Almost definitely šš I haven't given the intercooler as much thought yet, ideally I'd like to have proper piping with as little silicone bits as possible, but I'm new to turbocharging so I need to do more research on the cooler setup I should have a friend that can help with the welding/fabrication of intercooler piping Been in a couple boosted 5s now, I just need it in my life!
