Top tip on microwaves, I was about to bin my current device because it arced in the cooking space whenever I used it, turned out the waveguide cover, the thin mica sheet on the side of the unit protecting the tube that goes to the magnetron had delaminated, it’s made of mica. This allowed moisture between the layers, resulting in arcing as if you had left metal inside the oven.
Replacement less than a couple of quid.
