I watched a two part documentary on the Spanish Civil war last week, I never realised what went on.
I knew about the Luftwaffe bombing etc but not the rest.

I was fascinated to learn about the VW beetle down in the Antarctic in 1963.
I spent a year at one of the other Australian Antarctic bases in 1975 and had never heard that VW story until now.
I was also quite shocked a few months back to discover a photograph of myself while in the Antarctic on the internet as well as an 8mm home movie of myself and the other guys on that expedition. Life can certainly be full of surprises sometimes.
