We have an open fire and often collect Sweet Chestnuts when out walking the dog. So we have roast chestnuts most winters.

It's really big here in Spain. There's a whole festival and the local teenagers are sort of encouraged to run it :-) I really like them, especially with meat as a sort of mash.

Also huge in Switzerland Heisse Marroni. and there is a seller in Luzern called Tony. The best bit is the very tidy bags they have. It's a double paper bag, so you have your hot nuts in one side, then the other side opens up to keep the shells. You know. Switzerland... all tidy and stuff.
