If you can’t take a ring off then at the very least tape it up, I’ve seen folk with their fingers ripped off by machinery thanks to wedding rings etc.

I know they are no longer fashionable, but a necktie can be a killer when it gets caught in machinery or engine pulleys…. and long hair.

Last year, the guy who supplied our logs got his sleeve caught in the processor. Had to be cut out of the machine by the firemen & was lucky not to lose his arm/be killed. |

That has just taken me back to 1972 when I was an apprentice working for the Sperry Rand Corporation at Bracknell in Berkshire, long gone now. Anyhoos. There where a bank of about 10 pillar drills in the machine shop and of course it was the fashion for men to have very long hair then. We had to wear a snood cap to bun-up our hair into. Well this guy didn’t. A blood chilling scream and wallop, he was really scalped …… 🤮 Rich. |
